Severe double standards when it comes to this man v. Rafa.

If Rafa was still in charge, everyone tonight would be lauding his tactics and how he masterminded a win against a form team while having a shit squad etc..

Steve Bruce does it.. “oh the keeper had the game of his life”, “just defend and hope for the best”

I find him excruciating like I do many of those journeymen managers who seem to specialise in teams that battle relegation year in year out. But let’s face it, he’s doing better than any of us thought. He deserves credit for that.

You look at teams like Everton, Arsenal and especially West Ham when we played them, and you see teams who have thrown in the towel for their managers. Players who don’t give a fuck. Don’t want to make any effort while those managers are still there etc.

That’s not nufc. Every single player is putting in a shift. Heads haven’t dropped when we’ve lost.

We’re now 6 points better off and 3 places higher than we were at this stage last season with a better goal difference of +1

All of this without an actual center forward like we had last season with Rondon..

👍

He's doing ok but he's an awful bloke who I wish nothing but misery on.  The bloke has treated plenty of other employers with complete disdain.

Never met you but would guess from your opinion of someone that you have never met you could possibly be more of a cunt but maybe I’m wrong

We are doing lot better than i ever would have tought. I was expecting us to be bottom, or at least in the bottom 3 by now. It seems that we wont be relegated so he's here next season also. Hate the fucker but hey, this is football.

With Rafa though, you instinctively know these kind of wins are wins he and his staff can deliver time and time again because of their skill set, even if the players’ own skill set isn’t the best whether it’s against a top team or a poor team. Rafa can mastermind results against anyone. Bruce cannot, results that do go his way are not forged on the training ground and carved out using his skill set, they result from other factors that when combined, will work form time to time. When just one or two of those factors don’t, however, and Bruce is tasked with actually having to apply his own skills, which he’s shown time and time again he doesn’t have and what skills he does have, any Tom Dick or Harry can exhibit, it all breaks down and gets exposed for what it is. SHITE!

Beating Sheff Utd 2-0 is like Pardew’s Newcastle beating Stoke away.

In the end, he backed up his brilliance, his skills, his ‘I’ve got this, I know what I’m doing’ with SHITE after SHITE.

Credit Bruce? What because he’s beaten a promoted team away in a smash and grab fashion, a performance on another day that would have lead to the same kind if defeat away to Norwich, that other promoted team.

Finish 10th this season and consistently over achieve for whatever years he’s at the club and maybe then he’ll deserve credit and justify ‘he’s doing a good job’, ‘he deserves respect for the jobs he’s doing’ type sound bites.

I guarantee he’ll finish this season below tenth and either eventually relegate the team or after flirting with relegation every season, with the football getting more worse with every game and the games without a win streaks getting longer and longer spanning whole months, he’ll be called out for what he is, always has been and always will be, SHITE.

It’s ridiculous to even compare the two anyway, especially after what, 15 games or so? Rafa won the Championship at the first time of asking, finished tenth and then proceeded to keep the club up, all on a negative net spend with a Championship squad. Rafa is someone who has the skill set to mastermind a win against Man City, against anyone in a one off match. Bruce couldn’t tie his shoes laces and if he had just half of Rafa’s abilities, qualities, integrity and skill set, well, I doubt he’d lower himself by managing Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct FC. Something Rafa did of course in the vain hope he’d be able to make the club successful. In the end though, staying would have been the lowest of the low for anyone with a degree of self worth, ambition, honour, pride and principles.

We all know Brucie boy is the lowest of the low, however, lower than a snake, a man of zero integrity, self worth, honour, pride and principle. If he had any of that, he’d still be at Sheff Wed.

Beating their rivals doesn’t mean fuck all. Those who think otherwise, may I remind you all, we had Rafa Benitez and in the end that meant fuck all too. It all means fuck all as long as Ashley is the owner. At least with Rafa, unlike Bruce, it meant something to have a manager with ability, with skills, with the capacity to deliver tangible achievements, to have a manager who I could respect, who had pride, was honourable, had integrity, who when he sent his players out, he did so to win, because they might be Man City, or Fulham or this is the Championship, but we are Newcastle United, we can beat City, we can finish top and go up, we can stay up, we can finish tenth, we can win trophies, play in Europe and challenge again, we can be as good as anyone. That’s what I credit Rafa for, Ashley obviously saw different and in Bruce, he has the perfect man and so do all these idiots clapping, cheering and taking their seats home and away.

Enjoy beating Sheff Utd, enjoy drawing against Man City, enjoy staying up another season. But just think about what you had and could have had with Rafa. If Bruce makes you happy... then hey, enjoy these moments. While you can!

Deserves massive credit for telling Dubravka to have the game of his life. Well done.

Yes, Bruce deserves credit for Dubravka being magnificent, but Bruce also deserves credit for all seven of his defenders playing well, too (eight, after 87 minutes).

Totally this.  I mean we won tonight so this may sound hollow but we were totally outplayed by Sheffield United.  This is the worry.  I can't wait to reach 40 points.

Imo, having the ball is not synonymous with outplaying a team. We outdone them them tactically and out-fought them. For all their possession they created nothing when it really mattered and had no idea how to break us down when plan A wasn't working.

This is just pure revisionism. There was nothing tactical about that win other than we set up defensively in the same way the players were drilled by Rafa. When we got the ball we had no idea what to do with it and promptly lost it most of the time. The defenders couldn't bring the ball out and ended up hoofing it upfield in a desperate attempt to relieve some pressure.

If Sheffield had some quality in the final third rather than championship tat, they would have finished the game within 45 mins. Do you honestly think we gave them 75% of the possession by choice?

"Down the line we are going to have a few that will go against us. I have to say well done to Jonjo for keeping on going. If that is an opportunity the linesman keeps his flag down because it looked borderline. Maybe he could have kept the flag down and checked later. Ultimately it was the correct decision.

"The referee will not blow the whistle and he has done that. Usually it is clear and obvious for the linesman to put his flag up but let's remind everyone it was the second goal, which wasn't important anyway."

He talks absolute shite doesn't he? Of course the second goal was important

I've taken the decision this morning to come away from NUFC altogether.

Can't get any form of enjoyment out of this version of the club, Steve Bruce, the local press, the twatful hangers on and obviously the heinous ownership/leadership teams.

So, after 33 years, that's it.

I'm out.

Be back if/when a takeover ever happens.

Good luck guys .

For us, my observation of Bruce is that he's a status quo maintainer at best. He won't take a team to any improved level, but so far he's hardly been awful. He's just been "meh".

Obviously what he represents is a totally different issue.

Sorry to hear this but I do understand. I'll miss your love of a real NUFC. I have often thought about doing the same as you are, but keep going in hope and knowing that there are true supporters out there who share my hope, and share my despair at what our once awesome club has become since that man bought us.

I hope we will talk again in a better, Ashley free world.

he's done better than i expected at this stage, even considering he's done little but stick with rafa's system

bear in mind he's lost schar, now lascelles, and not had lejeune at all he deserves some credit for it not falling to bits

my suspicion is, however, that we'll see the opposite of the rafa 2nd half season bounce as all the players fall to bits through the winter, classic PFM style

Doesn't seem to bother him as he's not playing him even when fit.
