Joelinton - To Miss Rest of Season with Knee Injury (Hope)

Recommended Posts

It’ll be Willock, for sure. Think the role in our system requires a lot of running and I don’t think Miley can cover the ground.

Tonali could do it with Miley playing as the #6 (or Bruno back to #6 and Miley RCM) but Sandro has bossed it to such a massive degree in that spot that trying something else before such a huge run of fixtures would be a bit mental.

A good sensible decision, much better to miss the last four games and do it more harm and miss six months of next season.

Willock will raise his game I'm sure of it. Him and Miley will both help get us over the line and into the Champions League.

Eddie’s comments on Little Joe after the Ipswich game:

"It was a tough decision but I think Joelinton has played on the left for us," the Newcastle United head coach said. "Joe Willock is a natural player that wants to play on the left, although he's right footed, very similar to Joelinton.

"So we tried to keep the rhythm of the team rather than bring someone who maybe prefers to play on the right like Lewis. So that was behind my thinking.

"Joe's an outstanding player, in his own right, he's done some really good things for us this season. I think he'll benefit from the game today. He's got a big part to play in our last four games."

Time to shine Little Joe.

So is it a case of resting and us hoping again he doesn’t need surgery? Then come July/August in pre season, he needs surgery and is out for say 4 months.

If it’s a niggle I hope he just goes under the knife like Sven did recently and gets sorted for pre season.

Good think is this is one area where we have good depth, happy with Miley or Willock to start.

Depth in terms of numbers we do. In terms of quality we don’t.

Probably means  5 at the back is on the cards at some point.

If we get wins in the next 2, I’d be happy with that as we’d just be consolidating our top 5 place in those last two.
