mrmojorisin75
anyone think they're going to allow mass crowds of people again this year? seems to me you get through the lockdown and start to open things up again then in july/august start allowing hundreds of thousands of people gather together you're basically creating a time bomb for the months the NHS is at its most stretched no? can see a lot of things returning to normality but can't see crowds being allowed again this year so no gigs etc.

Stifler
Premier League have just announced that football won't be back by early May. Although I get really angry when experts think it still won't be back throughout the summer (which is ages away). Can someone please just give some hope? It'll be July. July at the very earliest When the pubs and restaurants reopen there will probably be a second spike of infections which would push this date further back I still think when it comes back it will be behind closed door, and rightly so. Outside of football, I don’t think the pubs or places where you gather should be open until later in the year when we know more. Shops and possibly cafés/restaurants possible. Pubs, and other places of gathering, no. There'll be increasing pressure to reopen the likes of pubs because a lot of them will be reaching the point of going out of business after a while. I already expect quite a few pubs where I live to never reopen as they were struggling before this anyway. We are going to see a massive change in the way we socialise in future. I think there will be a significant reduction in pubs. That was going to happen naturally anyway, but the lockdown and it’s long term affects will bring that forward. Boris will give us the nod next March and then everyone will go mental, piling into bars and licking each others faces on the metro.
TRon
Saturdays are fucking shit without football. Also used to look forward to Sunday footy and watching the UFC recorded in the early hours. Covid-19 did a number on us.

Guest Howaythetoon
A lot of famous people seem to be getting hit with this, it's no laughing matter. It’s probably because they are more exposed socially in terms of mixing with so many different people from so many different places. I’m surprised there wasn’t or hasn’t been a bigger actual in house kind of pandemic within football for example. Hopefully that won’t be the case in the coming weeks and months. joeyt
New FIFA guideline: Contracts that expire on June 30 should be extended to fall in line with new season end date, whenever that may be. Guess Colback is sticking round a bit longer

Colos Short and Curlies
New FIFA guideline: Contracts that expire on June 30 should be extended to fall in line with new season end date, whenever that may be. Guess Colback is sticking round a bit longer I can't see that being legally binding - there will be someone out there who has signed a pre-contract with a hefty pay rise in it who will challenge it

r0cafella
Interesting this will lead to them being able to collectively bid down wages in the championship.
Guest
It will cripple football clubs even at the top end. If TV companies stop paying up because they’re not getting their product, sponsorships do the same...even the wealthy clubs are going to struggle paying millions a week in wages eventually. Players will have to take a cut.
r0cafella
I think deferment is the outcome we will see. Take the hit now and get paid later basically. This is the likely scenario for the clubs too with tv money and sponsorship.
