Callum Wilson set to be out for around 8 weeks with new hamstring injury (Howe)

Recommended Posts

Callum once played over 30 games for us and scored 18 goals.

It's a nightmare what's happening to him.

Feel sorry for him, but the club can't keep carrying him.

Him and Antonio can discuss injuries in their next podcast and how Antonio is expected back first.

The podcast will be a real car crash...

‘Waste of flesh’

The internet, everybody

Also, ‘getting it’. Getting what? The withering put downs of somebody who exclusively watches Newcastle via PM’d links to streams?

I’ll have you know I’ve been to 2 games this season, that’s an increase of 1 on this time last season.

He's basically done like. 33 in a few months and he just cant stay fit anymore. Plethora of muscle injuries, two ACLs, and years as an elite athlete does that. Been a good player for us between the injuries. Even if he was to return, given his age and the amount of time he's had out over the last two seasons, hes not going to be the player he was.

The thing is, we knew all this. Yet we did nothing about it.

My goodness this is tragic. I admire the fight he has to keep pushing to come back, but looks like his career might be coming to an end. His body just isn't holding up.

All this just ensures we move on with his contract running down, and we don't get enticed into giving him a new deal, and so that will be a relief because it would be a huge mistake to do so.

They weren't both in form, Wilson was but his injury record is his injury record and could not be relied on. He was also over 30.

Almiron wasn't in form, he had a good month: he scored just twice in the new year that season, Bournemouth away and a deflection against Wolves at home. He was never going to replicate it and his career suggested that the purple patch was going to be exactly that.

They should've been sold after the end of that season yet they got new contracts either side of the end of it which they'll both see out without contributing for the overwhelming majority of the last 2 whole seasons. Poor planning or lack of ruthlessness. Or both.

Bang on.

I agree with all of that and the bold bit especially.

Aye, abhorrent comments about a great bloke who has saved the club in the past and we wouldn't be where we are without him.

Between @Mike’s magic pillow, @Andy’s cherry juice, @Groundhog63’s Pilates regime and @Dr Jinx’s little blue pills, we’d have him fit and firing in no time.

Yep. Need to make an affiliate link for this pillow, like. Fuck off am I not gonna squeeze every dime I can out of you lot.

I remember the summer after we finished 4th I got shit for saying it was the perfect time to sell him.

You were right.

I advocated for him. Great player on his day. Even in the summer I was on his side. But he’s done.  Been a good servant.

Him coming back was another reason I sold Isak on FPL ffs.

Ffs, just retire or go lower down the divisions. Not fit for the PL with this horrendous injury record. I do feel sorry for him but the club has to start looking after itself now and get another reliable striker in.

Massively disappointed and also concerning. Boy we are now one injury away from being awful.

Zooming out we really needed him to be fit and contribute or the ability to get a few for him. Now neither of those are on the table we are in a bind. Wouldn't be surprised if they extended him as we have a players out of contract and we will have to pick our poison as I doubt we can replace everyone in one window.

Now have to accelerate getting Osula minutes. Like immediately. I suppose Howe figures to throw Gordon there when needed.
