Elliot Anderson (now playing for Nottingham Forest)

Just doesnt have the ability and confidence on the ball for me.......cant be relied on to retain possession.

That's what I see as well. His touch seems a bit heavy at times, but then from nowhere he can produce some real skill. Still looks quite raw which is fair enough, he's still developing.

only halfway through it, but it's clear from match cam that Anderson brings leadership qualities. He's constantly trying to encourage.

Anyone else watched that Southgate video yet?

Mentions that Anderson is joining up with the England youth set up, or that's what I took from it anyway. Seems to line up with him dropping out of the Scotland squad a while back. Seems like he's one that has been watched recently.

Very poor on the goal, didn't know where he was.

Outside of that, he had a good first half in a position he's not used to.

I thought he looked a bit, scared is the wrong word, but safe on the ball at times. Compared to his usual self, I mean. Got himself in some great areas and there was a good early pass on and he would turn it down in favour of extra touches.

Nitpicking, though. Whilst was poor for the goal. His effort and defensive ability in an unnatural position were both top class. Really do like his attitude and the way he puts himself about.

On the first point. That was a problem for most of our players. Take Trippier, Botman and Schar out the team and we don’t really have anyone with an eye for a pass, bar Bruno. Bit of a wider issue and something that needs addressing when finances allow. Hall certainly tries to get it up the pitch along the deck, mind.

Weak stuff tonight. I'm in the 'have deep patience' camp for him, but this was a disappointing one. Didn't like the positions he spent much of the match in.

Feels like we try to be too clever with him and Gordon a la Joelinton/Willock when the mix of attributes isn't the same. Gordon is such a a threat when properly wide as he has options to use his pace.

I think he’s bang average. Never seen anything from him that says otherwise. Would pick him over Longstaff every game though without a second thought.

I thought he was alright and had a few good moments; set someone away and got behind in the first half, and did extremely well to win a free-kick at one point in the second. He didn't really affect the game though.

I think it's one of them where, in addition to Longstaff, you've just got one too many CMs in there where the quality is lacking a bit.

Difficult to predict at this point where he might go with us. I like him but would probably be tempted by a good offer given the 'pure profit' craic. He's easily capable so you wouldn't be shocked if a promoted club tested the water.

Yeah. I feel a bit sorry for him. Playing in that hybrid left back/dovetail setup with Gordon. It just doesn’t work.

He's one of them players that you see play and wonder what does he actually do , like he never stands out or does anything of note really and sometimes you have to double check he's actually on the pitch to know he's playing .

thought he was ok tbh but Joelinton is obviously much better and understands how to play the position infinitely more.

Man U's young guns looked far more dangerous. He tries hard, but like Longstaff and Murphy just can't control the ball well enough under pressure.
