I thought we missed our window for decent money for Big Joe, but then (a) I love him and (b) they would have not wanted to unsettle Bruno.

I agree.  I wasn’t upset he got the new contract. I love him.   But it didn’t feel like the smart play.

If we had sold joelinton, do you think we would have won any silverware?

I agree hes passed his value now, and we wont get much for him, but he was immense that game and I dont trust we wouldve had a better option in CM for it if we had sold him

I’ve said numerous times - no I don’t.

But I think we have a better chance of winning silverware this season and next.

As a fan, give me that league cup.

But I expect the people running the club to think bigger and long term.

I love Harvey Barnes too (I love every player that started that league cup final). But I don’t think we should spend £40m on players that won’t appreciate in value either.

I’m an old curmudgeon who views that type of player as being a ‘water carrier’.  It says more about what is dull about modern football for me

For clarity, I don’t doubt I’m wrong and you’re right re this technically - but at heart I don’t care :) - I still think that if someone like Bruno was tasked with just winning the ball and passing it safely he’d be worth five times what Anderson is ‘worth’.

His stats for passes forward/progressive passes and passes into the final third are top 5% out of midfielders for this season, tbf. He's certainly been more than an average water carrier this campaign, he's been much more of that tempo setter type. He shows Bruno levels of getting out of tight spaces with some ludicrously good skill too.

Yeh Anderson isn't a water carrier at all. Really good in tight spaces and a ball progressor. Better on the ball than any of our CMs bar Bruno.

Howe gets a lot of credit for improving our players. I think Anderson must have slipped the net, because he looked half the player he has since he left.

Let’s see how good Anderson is up against our midfield.

What difference will that make? He could be class or he could have a shite game.

Our midfield has looked class against Barcelona (for a bit) but utter shite against Wolves, Sunderland et al.

I don’t think he’d be near the England squad if he stayed FWIW. Be interesting to see how he gets on if he gets the move to Man City.

Yeah, as good as he's done and improved, I don't think he'd have got the chances here had he not been sold.

He'd be like Miley, still not getting loads of match time when Bruno, Tonali and Joelinton are fit, and lucky he's been really good at RB. We may not have signed Ramsay had he stayed, but he might have got minutes out wide or similar, but not in the CM role he plays at Forest.

Good luck to the lad though. He's showing what he could do with some faith and more match time and a settled role in a side.

Some lovely touches tonight, seems like he's settled in nicely.

Which of course means the media will do their best this summer to unsettle him for their club of choice.

Anderson’s turned out brilliant but I do think we need a different profile of midfielder than him tbh.

Reddit is in uproar that he wasn't sent off. Booking for me like.

It’s a very poor tackle, but it’s a very odd leg throw from Watkins after he’s hit. Suppose it probably did hurt like.

Great tackle. Got the ball, then man. Perfect.

Coach applauding in the back. "Ball. Man. Textbook."

Watched it about 10 times and can’t see where the uproar is, wins the ball first everytime and Watkins runs onto his foot. Unfortunate but never a red for me.
