So he went from not ready made to ready made in what 12 months? Of course he was always ready made, he wasn't being played but it was obvious that he was a good player.

No, he's still not "ready made" for us.

There's no denying he's a good player, but we need midfielders with more end product, something he's yet to add to his game. I'm sure he will with regular minutes like.

Im all for succession planning...he didnt need to be anything different. Just be someone the team can trust in midfield to cover Sandro and Bruno and big Joe when needed, and hes us through and through... He was it...hopefully we have more like him coming through.

He would want to be a starter but we’ve signed Ramsey for that position.

Ramsey looks good but he's so injury prone.

The latest one was awful from Longstaff so I'll ignore this one but it's a worry.

Elliot is a warrior who seems to stay fit.

Of course he stays fit, he left Newcastle.

But if he should return...

Disagree. We need to be able to play more football and keep possession better and he achieves that. He's ready made and hopefully keeps improving.

We do lack g/an and creativity from out midfield, and Anderson isn't the best in terms of output, but he is very much a Howe type of player in my book.

Liverpools title winning first choice Misfield got 27 G/A between them. Ours got 23.

Since Howe has been in charge until this season. Scoring goals as a team hasn’t been a problem and neither has goals from midfield.

Considering the fact we don’t play with a 10. Between the 3 players we have we’ll get 6-12 g/a for them.

Our game is setup to unleash the forwards.

Fair. Anderson got 6 assists last season (in the league). It's on par with what Bruno usually gets. Tonali and Big Joe gets less than that, so it's not that bad.

A "ready made" fit would do both though or at least offer a bit of everything.

I agree we need to take care of the ball better (even if it is overstated), but there's no point in sacrificing Joe or Ramsey's output for the sake of a more possession based player. We're a team of limited goal scorers as it is.

Not s slight against the lad, he's come on a lot and will probably add goals and assists to his game, but he needs to keep playing regularly.

I was going to say, from what I've seen so far this season the midfields lack of goals isn't really the issue. (Although I'm sure they're capable of playing better than what I've seen)

Someone who won't treat the ball like a grenade and allow the team to push up and apply pressure, maybe they exist on the team already idk but from what I've seen the front 3 would be really dangerous if the 3 behind them could help sustain some support.

I understand the manager has a focus on transitions which is fine but I'm pretty sure for the team to get where they want to get to eventually (title contention) they'll have to improve in the phases outside of transition too.

Eddie wants him back.

Ok he didnt say that but in his presser the eyes told their own story. :aww:

We will 100% be back in for him.

I think you are reading too much into it. He was obviously disappointed to lose him given he was already at the club, but I'm not sure we'd want to be paying big money to bring him back here.

Should we not be looking to sign someone better than Anderson come next summer surely?

I think his price tag will be too much for us, but I'm not sure how many windows we need to be reminded that getting the best and hottest prospects is seriously difficult for us. It's not that easy for us to get something better than Anderson, even at that price.

Anderson is still only 22 years old and looks set to establish himself as a regular for the national team (getting in ahead of other highly talented midfielders). Whilst he's not the finished product yet, he seems to be taking big strides in his game, even compared to just last season. He looks like a leader too.

By the end of next summer, his reputation and level could be high enough for him to be considered a marquee signing.
