I’m fairly relaxed now and as long as he’s gone by Sunday, I’ll be pleased. If he’s still there though, it will be a disappointment and a missed opportunity. So it looks like whoever is running the show is looking to put in place the top people who are going to be running the club for the next 5 to 10 years and it will then be down to them if they sack a manager and who they replace him with. You can have legitimate reasons for thinking Bruce should be binned with immediate effect without moaning or being knee jerk. You can also (even at the same time, gasp) realise there will be a lot of upheaval in the upper management of the club in the coming weeks and this decision, when it is eventually made, probably won't have a long term impact or reflect on the future running of the club. Rumour is that he does have clauses in that allow him to be sacked for less or even maybe for nothing, but only after certain amount of the season has passed and if the team is below a certain league position. If we sack him before then, we have to pay the full 3 years of his contract up at £2.7m per year. This is because of his rolling contract, where every morning when he wakes up he still has 3 years left, it keeps resetting. It all makes perfect sense when you factor in Ashley's utter lack of ambition whereby anything from 17th or up is deemed to be fine. Hughes lasted from September - December before he was peddled out. I know that Bruce represents a lot of what we hated about what will be referred to in the future as "the Ashley years" but, we know he will be gone at some point in the future. Our owners have already stated that they have ambitious plans and that is enough for me to be more relaxed over who is running the current team. The relegation fears should be behind us soon - even if by January we are still hovering around the bottom a couple of decent signings to plug some gaps in the squad will see us OK until the end of the season, this year is about stabilisation... next year we should see real progress and advancement! Seeing that oaf in the dugout will put a dampner on the game no matter what the result. Last week was such a relief that Ashley was gone, Bruce is the final person which needs disposing for it to feel like a totally fresh start. Does anyone think Charnley still being involved may be why he’s still here? They’ve got a reportedly good relationship and I worry the consortium might be leaning on him forminformation whilst they restructure the upper end of the club. Bruce is at the end of a 1000 game stinking run and has been utter wank for years. Hughes deserved to hold his job for a bit at the time, for them to see what he can do. We know just how bad you have to be to go down and for me it would take Bruce being here until Christmas and for Newcastle to still be in the bottom 3 at that point for it to seem like a legitimate threat that the owners couldn't buy their way out of.
