With 17 points on the board and 18 games to go we need to beat Villa, Swansea, Norwich, Bournemouth and dare I say it the Mackems - those teams at the bottom with us to stop them getting points. We will also need to draw and beat some of the better teams. Not looking likely.

It's between us, Sunderland, Swansea, Bournemouth and Norwich. Two of those other three not currently in the zone will fight themselves safe and Swansea will appoint a good manager. West Brom and Southampton definitely won't get dragged into it.

We're just gonna get left behind. Feeling pretty pessimistic now.

We need at least 20 points from this second half of the season

Nevr going to happen, see Mike this is what happens when you try to cheap skate your way through the league.

6 wins. Looking at our home games, only 2 look winnable (West Brom & Bournemouth). Even then we don't fucking win the ones we should

Mackems beating Villa effectively makes it two places instead of three, but also brings them right back in touch with us. They scored as many goals today as we have in our last five.

But we've just been really really unlucky. :(

If we get 4 quality players in, it could be a total reverse in fortunes for us. If the quality is average however, then we're completely fucked.

Part of me wants us to stay up, but the other part wants Ashley, Charnley and our average Manager to fail, and for the fat grub to miss out on his millions.

Should we go down, then that is the perfect time for the fans to abandon the club until he fucks off.

Irrespective of the results today our total lack of depth in squad is killing us. No one on the bench to make a difference or challenge.

Factor in a shit manager and we are down. Years of decline and lack of ambition/investment have finally caught up with us.

We will not do what is needed in Jan now as the risk will be perceived as too high.

Sorry to say it but really think we are a sinking ship and will be going down this year.

Is anyone really arsed if we do go down? I mean ideally I'd prefer it if we stayed up but if we went down it wouldn't affect me at all compared to how p*ssed off I was last time.

{inserts earplugs...] call me deluded, but I reckon we'll get another 25 points.

Today's the day I accepted that we are going down.

Yup. I said it the moment Arsenal scored today. Unless we go for it in the transfer market and get lucky enough to find some quality, we are going down.

It's like the film Final Destination.

We cheated it last year but it's going to catch up with us this year.

Inevitable.

All it took would have been the money they spent on players and another little bit extra on a proper manager as well, it's always been so easy yet Ashley makes it so hard.

The next round of fixtures could be key, Swansea are at home to Sunderland and Bournemouth are at home to West Ham, while we play Man United, results go against us, we will be 6 points from safety, with much shittier goal difference.
