Hates substitutions like.

Used to it. He’s gonna make a sub 10 minutes after you would like it. he’ll have lads running around exhausted. It is what it is.

He’s got us going again. He’s doing a great job.

Hope those that were considering getting him sacked this season have a long hard look at themselves.

Taking Isak off was a huge gamble but you have to say it worked out. We gained a little more control and were able to go on the attack a few times with Willock and Barnes providing some energy and ways out.

One of those decisions he'd get absolutely slated for if we conceded there, so should get credit that it made a positive change to the game.

Wish he’d be more proactive with subs etc but he’s not half turned it around, like. I know the 2nd half was a tough watch at times but the levels of performances in this run have been night and day compared to earlier season. Most pleasing thing about it for me personally.

Sometimes earlier this season when he's brought subs on we've become more disjointed so I can see why he's been more conservative with them tbh. It's working.

The only one that surprises me is Barnes not coming on earlier. Wilson would have been an obvious one. Also possible that there's been an illness thing, Tino had been out with illness and I'm sure Kelly had been earlier.

Just can't understand the positivity when anyone with eyes (and a mastery of numbers/scorelines) sees that Howe is taking us backwards here.

It's incalculable how many goals we'll be conceding in 8-9 fixtures time, but it may be as many as 17 a game! :harry:

Our press was good again today first half. Feels we’ve finally got that sorted out recent weeks which has helped the change in form. Also the CBs are being aggressive again to pressing up. Occasionally it’s catching us out with lack of pace, but it’s a style we have to stick with so new plays can slot in easily. Does feel a RW and a CB with genuine pace, and we go up a solid level and cement ourselves as a top 6 side that can regularly be in the top 4 push.

Done wonders for our goal difference.

And the way the table is looking so tight it could be pretty vital.

Not done this for a while, but to keep track, we're currently -1 point based on like for like fixtures played last season.

Big opportunity to change that in the next two games - we got nothing from Man U and Tottenham last season.

Then an important fortnight for us in the second half of January:

Wolves H

Bournemouth H

Southampton A (in place of Sheff Utd)

Fulham H

We got 10 points out of 12 from those fixtures last season, but it feels like it will be an achievement to repeat that this year.

+5. Noice.

Seen a fair bit about us having a nice run of league games coming up, as though we've done the difficult bit, but I don't think it should be taken lightly at all. By fans and media I mean. The players have looked really nicely businesslike for a while now.

Wow this thread's quiet when we're not crap.

Yeah said it in the other thread. But if we get through the "easier fixtures" then I think we're on for a serious finish to the season.

But agreed, these games won't be easy by any stretch. The expectation to win, coupled with fatigue and other factors means they aren't sure things.

But congrats to our great manager for putting us in a great position to potentially kick on.

Will be a fantastic time to really gather and harness momentum ahead of 2 really important semis and hopefully a final.

When we went into the final last ti e we had just had a barren period.

The way he manages to turn those occasional poorer spells around is amazing.

We had the little wobble around the League Cup final, got us back on track to finish 4th. Looked like we were going to really drop down the table towards the end of last season then put a run together and finished 7th. This season we've struggled for consistency (like most of those around us) but we've beaten three fellow top 5/6 hopefuls in a row now and reigned in Chelsea's lead to one point.

Managing a team on a high is one thing but we've seen it with managers of other clubs - once things start to slide, they can't stem the flow.
