Says a lot that Keegan has the best record out of English managers in the modern era in the PL, despite getting out of the game early. Will always be gutted for him and us that we didn’t get silverware under him. Local hero

Another fucking bonkers stat; this calendar year we've only conceded 5 league goals at SJP from open play.

1 v Watford in January.

1 v Liverpool in April.

2 v Manchester City in August.

1 v Bournemouth in September.

All the others have been set piece goals. The last opposition player to score against us at SJP this season was Ivan Toney's pen for Brentford. The World Cup break skews this a bit but still, fucking hell. Especially given the absolute mess we were in 2021.

Mad to think that as well as we're doing, Chelsea conceded just 15 in a season once. I'd totally forgotten that and still held in my head that Arsenal's 17 conceded was the record.

What's even madder is to think about where we were and how we felt when Joao Pedro knocked that header in. If you'd said we'd finish the calendar year in second people would've thought you meant the Championship.

Let the daft sods keep believing it's all down to luck, for me. People are absolutely clueless.

Only 3 of our 9 wins were by 1 goal. 2 of those were against Spurs (away) and Chelsea. A sign of a legit team is hammering the bad teams, IMO.

Great thing for me is that we're this good now, yet there's 3-4 areas that could easily be ungraded over the next two windows that shouldn't really disrupt how we play.

Sure I read that the only other English managers to do it in the Premier League era are Keegan twice with us and Roy Evans at Liverpool once.

His ability to improve a player has left me wondering what he could have done with someone like Viana or Luque or other obviously talented but flawed players.

Imagine what he could have done with someone like Ben Arfa, we'd be talking about him like Messi

People said the same about Sir Bob and Ben Arfa but others said he wouldn't have bought him. I dont think Eddie would either.

I’d love it if we went in for him again. Always had nice things to say about Newcastle after he left.

All very well saying nice things, but the fact is he pushed to leave because he was homesick. Appreciate he was young but he strikes me as someone who’ll stay at Sociedad, or around that area, until he retires at about 33/34.

He never once talks negatively about players. He talks highly of players that are just squad players and it must be so important for them because we'll need the likes of Lascelles at some point during this season

We've struck gold having a manager who is excelling at improving players but is also brilliant as a man manager
