Internet comment sections aren’t always the best place to look, met family before Christmas of various different stripes (mainly Man United and Liverpool) and all of them were pretty glowing in their praise of us and Howe in particular.

Agree 100% on that! Used to be pub crak back in ye olde times , some certifiable folk out there with access to a computer 🤯

Ive got a brother in law who’s a Liverpool fan and he seems to think we’ll be lucky to finish 7th and our luck will run out!?

It’s not luck that has got us second though.

What is so evident now under Howe is how difficult we are to play against. We are tough to play through, tough to play over the top against and even tougher to play across whether that’s from up front, in midfield and especially at the back. We mop up attacks pretty easily at times and we are clearly a nightmare on and off the ball to face.

Agree with this. Most fans I speak to seem to be more positive about our chances than I am and are all massively praising Howe and the likes of Almiron, Joelinton, Bruno, Botman etc.

You do get the odd twat that links it all to money. But you can shut that argument down in less than a minute and they don’t really have any comeback.

2 goals conceded first half in 16 games. Incredible. Shows how organised we are. Howe is mint.

Defence or conceding goals was always his weak point at Bournemouth, now it’s his strength and he’s stitching that together with attack which was always his greatest strength to great effect and the results show that, the goals scored, the clean sheets, the solidity on and off the ball.

Says a lot that Keegan has the best record out of English managers in the modern era in the PL, despite getting out of the game early. Will always be gutted for him and us that we didn’t get silverware under him. Local hero

Another fucking bonkers stat; this calendar year we've only conceded 5 league goals at SJP from open play.

1 v Watford in January.

1 v Liverpool in April.

2 v Manchester City in August.

1 v Bournemouth in September.

All the others have been set piece goals. The last opposition player to score against us at SJP this season was Ivan Toney's pen for Brentford. The World Cup break skews this a bit but still, fucking hell. Especially given the absolute mess we were in 2021.

Mad to think that as well as we're doing, Chelsea conceded just 15 in a season once. I'd totally forgotten that and still held in my head that Arsenal's 17 conceded was the record.

What's even madder is to think about where we were and how we felt when Joao Pedro knocked that header in. If you'd said we'd finish the calendar year in second people would've thought you meant the Championship.

Let the daft sods keep believing it's all down to luck, for me. People are absolutely clueless.

Only 3 of our 9 wins were by 1 goal. 2 of those were against Spurs (away) and Chelsea. A sign of a legit team is hammering the bad teams, IMO.
