Dandy Man
Not crazy about Wood and definitely not at 17m but he can do a job in short term and we would've been getting likes of Kuqi in this situation in past so I guess it's progress of sorts
Guest HTT II
Wood be good in the Championship…
Bada Bing
Think he would be ideal to cover for Wilson. Not a flashy signing but it doesn’t need to be we are in a scrap. He occupies defenders and should create space for ASM and Fraser etc.
triggs
£17m isn't even bad for a 1 in 3 striker off a relegation rival. He's probably worth more like £30m to them

Like I say I do think he'd be a good signing for us though
Stottie
Wood has 3 from 5 xG this year, so he's getting into positions but may have missed a couple. Reassuringly, Cornet has 6 goals from 1.5 xG, and that scoring rate won't continue. Based on this, taking away Wood may hurt Burnley more than their fans currently realize. That all said, I suspect the club we need to finish above is Watford, not Burnley. 17 million is too much, and I would rather take a punt on Diaz. r0cafella
We would be spending 17.5 mil for a player who would play for 8 weeks? Wilson is a much better player imo and we need someone at least on his level to come in.
Mazzy
As much as this signing wouldn't excite me, I do see the logic in it. However Burnley would surely not let him leave in January and especially not to us.

McCormick
If we can get this over the line in a day or two then I can see it as a pricey panicky solution for Watford. No point waiting weeks for a better option only for our situation to be unsalvageable by then. 17.5 seems awfully steep though Edited January 9, 2022 by McCormick
The Prophet
Definitely agree with the, content with Wood, but not for the best part of twenty million quid line of thinking.
geordie_b
Wood would be a huge focal point for the team to buzz round, if we had him yesterday we win the game by 4 or 5 goals
Dr Jinx
Bit of Daryl Murphy deja vu. But that didn’t end up too bad iirc

LV
As @Mikeput it yesterday (albeit regarding Willock), somebody should be in jail if they spend £17m on Chris Wood.
Mattoon
Not exactly excited at the prospect of Wood, seems to be having a bad season and tends to wander off side quite often. That being said I can see this as a stop gap purchase as we need someone yesterday to step up. Not a terrible squad player but definitely not the answer long term. Could it be that we're looking at better targets and Wood is just the one we can get in before Watford?
