 It's a no from me, Clive.

a) Leeds nearly had him for £10-12m in the summer.

b) We don't need to spend money on a 5th choice winger.

c) He's got a face you'd never tire of volleying.

But he is effective. Sometimes it’s good to have an unfancied names that play multiple poisons.

like a Milner at Liverpool, Merino at Arsenal, Lingard/Mcromminay Man U, Kanu at Arsenal and Llorente at Spurs.

Just a thought to get some match winners type for the last 10 -15 minuets. Think Smodichs could fill that role

I might have agreed had we not signed Elanga, any time you can pick up a player for cheap that improves your squad, or will likely improve it in a season or 2 you have to take it. Sooner spend it on youth though. Either way, our squad planning the last 3 years has eroded the edge we had given cartel underachievement. No youth coming through that can improve our 16. If the Saudis want to make money and win, scouting and investing in local youth football go hand in hand with commercial deals.

Fairly decent source let it slip to me earlier today that we're close to signing this guy:

Daniel Bassi (RW/LW) 20yo.

He's mainly been used as an impact sub to take advantage of the guy's absolutely blistering pace against tired legs. Not watched him enough to say anything about his pass/cross-ability.

IMO it's likely either to be used similarily by us, or to start doing what other top clubs are doing by stocking up on "cheap" players for no other reason than to sell them for profit a year or two down the line at an artificially high price point due to smaller clubs thinking that if he was almost good enough for us, they'd surely be good enough for them?

No idea how many fingers Suds potentially has in this particular pie, but given his resume you'd imagine he'll have slipped at least a couple of digits inside any and all potential future transfers coming in.

I wish it wasn't as easy to identify certain people if I were to tell the story of how I ended up with this bit of information, as it's beyond fucking weird and funny

Minteh mkII then. Hopefully our psr spreadsheet says we can afford to keep him after he's teared it up at Feyenoord next season.

Samuele Inacio (2008)...I saw him play with the Italian Under-17 team ; very impressed by him....goals, assists, dribbling,  he's a 10 who can also play as a winger.

He started out at Atalanta (which has always had an excellent youth system) and currently plays for Dortmund's youth team.

Shame. Great player - not seen much of him in Saudi for obvious reasons

Might be unfair of me but I can't help question the hunger of a player who goes to Saudi like. He was on a massive wedge for years here as well.

I’m starting to be less fussed about players going to Saudi, because the quality is there in the upper ends. Saw with Al Hial at CWC, the coaching is still top quality.

Not all players will be same, but people probably have it viewed as a player going to China last decade, when they were really done as players or quality was really bad.
