Kieran Trippier: to join Wolves on a free (various)

Recommended Posts

Kieran Trippier will always be remembered as the face of the new era after the takeover. At the time, it felt surreal seeing a player of his quality at the club after so many years in the dark.

Early on, he was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch. Like a world-class player dropped into an U18 side.

True legend of this club.

Don’t think we could have made a better signing at that moment.

He backed himself to come here when it might not have worked out immediately, but he was probably the biggest player on the pitch for us during that first 6 months. The Everton free kick was legendary.

Every fan should be grateful.

I do hope he recognises the accolades from our fanbase, he was instrumental in hauling our arses up the table from the very real relegation threat, and no doubt helping to instill the attitude needed to see it through. Nothing but the utmost respect for him x

Earliest memory of Newcastle was the fa cup QF against Everton in 99 when i was 5 ... been following toon religiously since 2001  and have to say without a doubt the most important signing in that period for me... left one of the top sides in Europe to come to us  when we were looking certs for the championship...  his performances from Jan 2022 - may 2023 truly where outstanding, was one of the best full backs in the world at that stage.... one of my fave players ever to wear the black n white stripes now and I thank him for his part in giving me some of the beat days ive ever had following Newcastle utd.... hope now he goes to Italy or somewhere like some are suggesting now... he's a  legend

Signing him was a real turning point in the trajectory of the club.

Best right back we’ve had an arguably the most important signing we’ve made. Certainly the most important in a generation.

Outstanding player. The best I've seen at taking a long pass in his stride and control it without breaking pace. Incredible skill.

What a signing he has been for us, so transformative and helped raise the standards so much

Up until the off field issues he was pretty much flawless on the field, though this season has been tough there has still been moments of absolute quality (Man U at home), he just ended up playing a lot more than he should have

It is the right time to part ways, needs to be given a great send off and wish him well wherever he ends up next

First and possibly biggest domino that we signed all those years ago. Immediately raised the bar on the field and in the dressing-room to a ridiculous extent that I'm certain him signing convinced others to join and it set the dominoes in motion. Class player and looked like one of the best RBs in the PL (maybe in Europe) for a couple of seasons until his age caught up with him eventually, it's the right time to go and see out the November and December of his career but I've got a feeling he'll be back once he hangs up his boots as a coach. Top player and the best RB and captain I think I've ever seen in black and white

Great player, great personality, great servant to the club, even won us a trophy.

I hope the remainder of his career and whatever comes after is happy and fulfilling.

As many have said, best right back in my time. Controlling games and driving the team on from his position was a joy to watch. He put in several of probably the best individual performances I’ve seen from one of our players, truly a class above.

Wish him nothing but the best. It’ll be a long time until we have another of his kind.

I wish him well.

A great singing for us, but he’s never been able to cope with more than 1 game a week for us. The signs have been there for us that it’s time for us and him to move before he becomes a liability due to us holding onto him for too long.

Enjoy every last minutes seeing him in NUFC colours down the right hand side for us, lads. We may not lose too much on the pitch given age has caught up with him but we're absolutely going to miss his leadership and dedication.

Hope we see one last free kick from him ending up in the back of the net for us.

Also, he is  absolutely our GOAT at shithousery. No one in our club history comes close to how well he did it at the right times in games and to our advantage.

Kieran Trippier = My captain, NUFC Legend.
