If Kompany likes him and has a spot in the first team for him, that wouldn't be a bad option either.

His actual direct contributions to minutes is decent despite his inconsistent playing time at Arsenal and he's suited to a counter attacking style which we'll still have to use a lot next season.

 

Having a player capable of bagging 10 a season + some assists from out wide is a good interim step for us. The main question marks would be about his mentality.

I had an old lady stop me as I was walking down Clayton Street. Must have been at least 80. She grasped my arm, looked nervously into my eyes and said "Pet, where are the goals coming from if we don't improve our front three?"

 

I told her not to worry, to trust the process and have faith in Mandy, Dan and Eddie.

 

She smiled politely and nodded, but I could tell I hadn't reassured her. I hadn't even reassured myself.

Same. I watched a lot of French football the season before Arsenal bought him and was convinced he’d be a really top level Premier League player. He’s then flopped massively at Arsenal but shown glimpses every now and again. 
 

If we could get him for less than £20m I think it would be a risk worth taking. 
 

Him and ASM on opposite flanks could be both devastating and disastrous but I’d be up for seeing it 😂

I think in a more typical 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 he pushes up higher out wide, and in a better team, he gets to link up more with other midfielders/attacking midfielders that can also get him in more dangerous positions, which would improve his goals and assists numbers. I also think him playing on the opposite side and cutting in more would be beneficial, rather than playing as a more traditional winger on the left side.

 

Just my personal thoughts on him. Hope he gets a chance in a better team and I get to see how it turns out.

All that chasing down players, pacy breaks threatening the opposition, the odd wonder goal to reel me back in when the doubts started to surface. Then I looked at what his actual output was as one of our hallowed three forwards, and the penny finally dropped that he's just a powder puff try-hard.

I never watched Almiron out wide for us and saw any of that :lol:

 

Almiron doesn't even take players on, which is the minimum requirement for a winger, at least sometimes. He's never a wide man. He's clearly a number 10 or nothing at all.
