My point -which I seem to be failing to make - is PIF have just bank rolled FIFAs pet competition - FIFA will have some influence over UEFA so it's time for PIF to get them to use that influence to change these ridiculous rules.

UEFA and the other confederations are pretty autonomous from FIFA, UEFA would appear to be the only confederation that has FFP/PSR not sure there’s a lot FIFA can do.

The fact that we are competing with Liverpool etc for transfers, we should all sit back and realise how far we've come and be extremely grateful for the position we are in.  Let's not forget trying to get excited about Jeff Hendrick signing not long ago.

You're right, but it will fall on deaf ears unfortunately.

Historically they don’t get on; they compete. FIFA dislike the power and money UEFA control. UEFA effectively took over the FIFA controlled Fairs Cup and are looking to build the status of the World Club Cup.

The cartel will continue to hold us back unless things change

Tbh if we both bid the same amount he's always going to pick them. Nowt do with cartels

Yeah I saw that in his stats. Just one year though and he's scored above his xG in other years so can't confirm full DCL vibes yet.

Would be funny if Liverpool sold Darwin Nunez and then bought the next Darwin Nunez though.

Of course he could score and cup his ears……..

Was he here for the PSG game? (Just checked he didn’t go on loan to EF until 2024, so still at PSG in Oct ‘23 but he wasn’t on the bench).

No he wasn’t on the bench, whether he was watching in the stand I don’t know.

These got round to placing their bid yet, or still considering it?

Honestly, I reckon they're getting cold feet, and the official line will be a fee/package couldn't be agreed with the hot dog club.

Benjamin Sesko being mentioned as a potential alternative target with Liverpool coming in for Ekitike... how long before Liverpool try and sign him instead :D

We qualified for the Champions League. Man U were closer to qualifying for the Championship.

They're not the automatic first choice they used to be.

Regardless of their league position they're Man Utd, they win.

Edit: I'm a twat.

Yup, I'm a twat. I must have got so bored watching the final that I fell asleep and dreamt that Utd won.

FWIW I'm not saying nobody would ever choose Man U if it's between us and them, just that choosing Man U isn't automatic like it once was.

They can still pay enormous wages, they still have a massive stadium and worldwide appeal that we lack. But on the flip side we finished 24 points and ten places ahead of them, and will be in the Champions' League next year.

So in a world of 4D chess, have we;

- Known Liverpool would come for Isak

- Planted a story about Ekitike being his replacement despite not actually wanting him

- Potentially intentionally underbid for Ekitike to make it look like we were serious about replacing Isak

- Had no intention of selling Isak to begin with

- Baited Liverpool into panic bidding for Ekitike to poach him as he must be as good as Isak?

- Keep Isak and made Liverpool spend £70m on an average bundesliga striker?

He’s not average like, he’s quality but hopefully he’ll flop in the premier league. Then all we’ll have to worry about is the Saudi league buying him for £1bn in a year’s time

I mean Mbeumo literally just picked them over us this summer if rumours are to be believed that we wanted him.
