Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

Liverpool fans aren’t too happy they’d convinced themselves they were getting Isak.

All giving it we took your first choice target. Well, we kept yours

and also they didn’t rate Ekitike that high. They aren’t pleased with the reported fees.

This whole saga is weird in all aspects. All.

Think he and Isak would have been brilliant together so it's a little disappointing we're not going to get that now but if he wants to play for someone else then fuck him. We've kept Isak and lost no one, added Elanga and clearly have other targets in mind. Need to get them into the club but the mentality is clearly there to get shit done ASAP given how quickly we've moved away from Ekitike and straight on to other players

No panic here :)

He looks like he could be a very good player, of a similar style but still leagues below Isak.

I'm hopeful we have identified someone with the same skill set but at an earlier stage of their career - like Ekitike when we first moved for him

Im curious as to who is going to bail them out of the flip Nunez? Or who's going to rinsed for Elliot? Or will they manage to mug off the idiots from Munich ?

none, that’s why they can’t go for Isak anymore. Ekitike’s fund is the last bullet they have.

their original plan is to try to persuade Isak to hand in transfer request, thus force us to let him go, imo.

now they need to settle for Ekitike and, imo, not something we should miss given the fees quoted and what he really brings to the team

Add in that depending on how much we spend on a forward could leave more for upgrades elsewhere possibly being why there's been no movement on other positions while this palava has played out.

If we keep Isak and he's happy, use what we can to strengthen then there's no downside.

An interesting way of framing it...

Reminds me of that old joke about a man who can't get his wife to orgasm, and ends up watching on while another man satisfies his wife, as he stands there boasting about his prowess with a towel.

A few days ago none of us thought that we'd sell Isak this summer, while we all know that we need a competent backup striker in case of injury and to ease Isak's load. Now there is one less target available and we may well have prompted the sale of a talented player to a rival club. If Liverpool sign Ekitike and don't like him they'll simply bid for Isak again next summer.

No need to be bitter about someone choosing Liverpool over us - they're a big draw. We'll move on, sign someone great and have a fantastic season regardless.

Frustrating window so far but the signs are that things are hotting up

Weren't we have meant to have made a £70+mil offer? :burn2:

Yeah so?  They've made a similar offer to the one we made and are talking to Frankfurt, the offer hasnt been accepted.  Difference now is likely the player will push harder for the deal and soon they'll get a deal agreed.

I hate all this shite wishing players and other clubs ill when they choose other clubs. That's football.

Not getting bent out of shape over anyone that doesnt want to be here. There are plenty more that do that will come here hungrier and will perform harder for our shirt.

Destined to score shit loads against us and celebrate hard every time now isn't he. Hope the little bastard slips on a banana skin and Liverpool have an awful season.
