Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

Reminds me of that old joke about a man who can't get his wife to orgasm, and ends up watching on while another man satisfies his wife, as he stands there boasting about his prowess with a towel.

A few days ago none of us thought that we'd sell Isak this summer, while we all know that we need a competent backup striker in case of injury and to ease Isak's load. Now there is one less target available and we may well have prompted the sale of a talented player to a rival club. If Liverpool sign Ekitike and don't like him they'll simply bid for Isak again next summer.

Im not sure thats its at all given the level of player we've been after and the mood music from the club being that they want to play 2 strikers a fair bit.

Think there was only one night where Ekitike was ever realistically joining and that felt surreal. So, all things considered, I'm not upset.

The idea of having both seemed exciting but insane.... if this was some masterclass from our board, fair play to them

The priority is keeping Isak and buying a good alternative (surely Wissa is a decoy?)

On thing this whole thing does show, is just how slow the press is at getting information. It sounds like we pulled out on Monday after our initial bid went in, however it's not been until Thursday that that information is getting out.

The press don't give a flying fuck and will peddle any old shite as long as punters keep clicking

Happy that the Ekitike to Liverpool transfer is progressing fast. Means Isak won't be unsettled once the season starts next month. Worst case scenario would have been Liverpool still wanting him in August.

Despite all the transfer rejections so far, I'm happy with how the club have acted. Can't fault them for being super ambitious this window

This.

If the press actually knew about stuff, we’d have even more stories and updates than we already do.

I don’t even believe most of what’s said today. Someone has claimed that Liverpool are his only choice, purely based on Liverpools stature, and everyone has piled on. It’s vast difference from yesterday when they were saying that he wanted to come to us.

They make it up as they go along, let’s not forget that that the majority of them share an office with the guys telling you how people fleeing war are the reason why the country is fucked, and that we should get into more wars to change things and it has fuck all to do with the people who own the media outlets being in charge of the country and asset stripping it.

There's plenty of people who would refuse to give any credence whatsoever to the absolute shite that gets peddled on the front pages of the daily rags, but then at the same time lap up everything they read from the sports journos writing for the back pages at the same outlets

Share a Daily Mail article about migrants in rubber boats wanting to eat your dog in the UK Politics thread and then share some Daily Mail "transfer news" in the Transfer Rumours thread. And then compare the reactions to each

If it looks like a turd, smells like a turd and tastes like a turd then it's a turd. Doesn't matter if you approach it from the back or the front

Good news IMO. Don't think he's all that.

Think he's got great potential without doubt, but it's a lot of money to pay for someone who isn't proven in the PL.

I also think we obviously aren't the right club for him, he wants the biggest names possible to associate himself with. He could well be fed up of Liverpool within 12 months just because he fancies being in Madrid or Milan instead.

It's over for sure. Not losing sleep over it.

Sign a cheaper understudy/option who wants to be here and allocate some of the funds towards paying Isak what he's worth.

Thing is we’ve proven Isak will be undroppable and actions speak louder than words, any half decent forward will turn us down like so many are. He needs to give Osulu more minutes next season to prove he is willing to rotate isak more.

I would've been really excited if we'd signed him. He's got great potential. I'll be absolutely gutted if we end up paying £50M for Wissa, that's a terrible deal.

Hopefully we go for another young striker with high potential.

Annoyingly I think Jhon Duran would've been a perfect loan for us, he's gone to Fenerbahce.
