Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

Recommended Posts

Do I think the signing is unlikely? Absolutely - however until I hear Liverpool are interested I will hold out hope - just enjoy us being linked with players such as these.

Has Edwards ever broke a genuine exclusive that we've actually signed, that isn't already doing rumours already before hand?

Just feel he is the club's number 1 journalist to fire the smokescreens at

Isnt his release clause 80m?

We wont pay that money. They will have to deal at a normal price.

In fairness, its not just Edwards saying we are back in for him, Romano has suggested it and Hope.

Remains to be seen if we will actually make a financial move or not. If we do, we obviously think its doable.

I imagine Frankfurt will sell for a well structured deal well below the release clause. Developing talents and selling them on at a good profit is the business model for a lot of Bundesliga clubs.

Wirtz' absurd deal apart, it seems the climate has definitely changed re transfer fees.. nobody is able to outright pay £75m anymore.. em apart from Chelsea.

Would any accept selling Gordon if it meant signing:-

Ekitike

Scalvini

Trafford

Gallagher?

Not for me unless you replace Gallagher with Antonio Nusa. Don’t think I’d want Barnes as the main option on the left all season, though I agree we are desperate for top quality midfield cover.

Don't care if it is or isn't Gordon specifically, I think he's great, but at some point we'll need to sell someone for more than we bought them for in order to fund purchases. Literally every club does it.

As long as we get a good fee for whoever it is and spend the money wisely, I'm OK with it.

FFS I've gone and got myself excited watching a compilation again..

If and I realise it's a HUGE if, this were to happen, where would he even play. Surely it would require a formation change?

Have a missed something here, why has Ekitike gone from blowing us off at Reims to join PSG, then PSG selling him at a loss to him suddenly being a €100m player that people are losing their minds over us potentially signing?

Possibly. If Gordon goes we would surely need another LW though? Can't trust Barnes on his own to do a whole season and having to use Elanga to cover for both sides seems like it would come with it's own problems.

It doesn’t make too much sense unless someone is leaving. One of Gordon or Barnes would have to go.. I just can’t see it.

You could make the same post in 2021 about Isak after he got peddled off by Dortmund to Sociedad.

It's hardly a shock that at 19 he didn't breakthrough into a forward line featuring Mbappe, Messi and Neymar.  World Football is full of players went to a "big club" to early before reaching their potential when they are sold off to a more well rounded team that develops them properly and lets them play.

Marmoush outscored Ekitike for Frankfurt in only half a season and only went for £59m or so.

I think clubs with these hot property strikers are finding it trickier than they anticipated to find a buyer. They expected a bidding war but that doesn’t seem to have happened for any of them.

Osimhen, Gyokeres both look to be going for under the originally quoted amounts. I think Ekitike will probably end up going for about £65m/£70m if at all.
