Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

Recommended Posts

Keep seeing these mad formations on social media with Ekitike and Isak up front, Gordon and Elanga on the wings as if 442 suddenly becomes a viable formation again because you’ve got two good forwards.

I wonder if he’s aiming for a more fluid front 3 like PSG used so well this season with all 3 forwards regularly switching positions - it’d be a hell of a tactical change to try and implement.

The thing I don't get with this is that surely if it were the case that massive contingent of the media who support Liverpool would've been reporting it immediately. But actually most came out and said the opposite. People will just believe whatever they want to believe.

Like us believing Ekitike is going to sign 😂

Only way I see them both is either Ekitike coming in from the left, or, more likely other one dropping occasionally to no 10.

Just a gentle reminder of what Isak is capable of doing on the left, if Eddie did want the flexibility of a front line who can interchange their positions if required

Going for Pedro means we must’ve had some different systems in mind. Pedro definitely would be wasted in a wide position.

I get people musing about formations and all but the fact of the matter is we could be looking at a 60 game season.

If, for the sake of argument, we've 2 in each position then each can have 30 games. Simplified, I know, but not too shabby.

Agree on this. In 22-23 we had Wilson in good form and at that point hovering around back-up to Kane for England. While he wasn't at Isak's level now, it's easy to forget just how good he was, and we brought in Isak and still had Chris Wood, albeit Newcastle era Chris Wood. While Isak / Ekitike (and Osula) is a clear upgrade in quality, it's a similar number of squad members.

I keep seeing formations with no big Joe. Ain’t happening. He’s crucial.

Who misses out out then? As much as I'd like to play with 12, someone has to miss out.

See I think the opposite - in games like that we may have to play one up top and drop an extra man in midfield. I think they’ll play scrappy and we have to deploy big joey to boss the midfield battle whilst Tonali and Bruno conduct the orchestra.

We are not used to having options are we ?

I love the idea of Eddie having different tools to do his job, as I mentioned a couple of months back we need to get rid of the notion of a player being dropped and embrace the notion of a player being rested or rotated.
