Yeah, Gyokeres would have been great for them. I think there was talk they had a chance if they had qualified for the Champions League by winning the Europa final.

 

Sesko is another that you can play through in build up, but think he can also lead the line, so he has some versatility. In his partnership with Openda, he's more the deeper striker though.

I think the release clause is 100m euro or £86m so if we have  bid 80m euro that's £69m quid some way short of what they want.

The 100m price quoted is because we were trying to include Longstaff going the other way.

If £86m is his release clause I have a horrible feeling all of this press is to flush out Chelsea/Liverpool. They know they’re going to have to let him go this window and know that if Chelsea or Liverpool don’t come in and trigger that release clause then they’re going to have to sell to us for £10m-£15m less. I suspect Frankfurt will try and string this out.

Seems the most likely scenario. Both club and player using us to get others to step in and make their move. You'd think we'd have learned our lesson.
