They won’t go bust, but it’s evident that the Qataris are getting relatively fuck all back for their grandiose investment, either in terms of success (other than the bland league title), or prestige, and as such, there are already moves afoot to dramatically cut down on spending and go for an ‘alternate’ strategy of buying French players rather than world wide elite like previously. Short term, PSG is a fairly good move for the lad, albeit I can’t see him getting much game time (certainly not many starts). Long term, the French league looks like it’s going to implode, and noises coming from PSG about their new strategy sounds like the Qataris will pull the plug to move someplace more worth their while. It’s a fact that most decent French players play outside France- simply because the league is poor in relation to Italy, Spain, and yes, the Premier league. If they hadn't wasted our time, we could have spent that time moving for another first choice forward target, possibly already signed and bedding in to the squad.
