Aye let’s break off long standing economic relationships with KSA and the UAE to keep the southern press and jealous rival fans happy.

At the end of the day this is a one off situation and the govt are hardly going to declare the U.K. closed for business and start repossessing companies from global allies FFS.

American owners is going to be awful for them.

From a purely sporting sense anyone is going to be awful compared to Abramovich.

No one is going to just throw money in at a loss like he did.

If anything, this will be an extra motivation for the Saudi's to increase their commitment to NUFC as it looks like one CL spot, that was previously locked in by a rival, is now up for grabs. Theoretically, all of this is perfectly poised for us to attempt a swoop on their place.

No, Yemen.

UK will not sanction PIF for obvious reasons, but it’d good that people are highlighting the inconsistency, and the UK’s role in our owners’ bombing campaigns/massacres.

What a shock, the anything goes ownership model of the premier league can lead to disaster. Of course this could be us in the future.

Money has corrupted football so badly. To compete to win leagues or champions league you need ludicrous money and it is eating itself. I would happily trade being the richest club int eh world for all clubs being sensibly run self sustaining businesses with meaningful levels of fan ownership and any club could win a league by doing well and no club is existentially threatened because of geopolitics.

It's not inconsistent, Russia have invaded a neighbouring state while holding a loaded nuclear gun the the head of the western world. There is no equivalent to that since the second world war.

The intervention in the civil war in Yemen has our tacit support and is essentially a proxy war against Iran. As terrible as it is, it is not equivalent to the invasion of Ukraine.

Yemen is different to this albeit it gave KSA an excuse to go in and, go in lawfully and with US and UK approval.

Doesn’t make it right but there’s no chance the Govt will do anything about our deal. If anything it could make the relationship a bit closer.

Bombs dropped by the KSA have killed many times the number of civilians killed by Russia. The geopolitical ramifications don’t make KSA actions in Yemen any less immoral in comparison. Plus, importantly it is actually our owners carrying that out, whereas Abramovic is an associate of Putin and further removed from Russia’s actions in Ukraine. If sanctions are to be levied on club owners for war crimes, it’s clear our owners should be part of that.

Again, not that there’s any chance due to U.K. role

Whilst the human cost of both is terrible, ultimately that is not the reason for these sanctions, the reason is that with the threat of nuclear response if we get involved in the conflict, it is the only weapon we have.

We are literally facing the potential of WW3, nuclear annihilation of civilisation is being threatened by Putin. It's not a contest, but if it were, nothing trumps that in terms of immorality.
