Such a strange club, even more basket case than we are or were. He got them promoted, they should have given him a new bumper deal. I think he always saw them as a stop gap type job and I believe it was him who wanted the rolling contract which SAFC were obviously happy to oblige as they had went through a lot of managers and there was no guarantee he’d get them promoted.
 

My mackem mate who is sound and not a knacker like most on RTG (he doesn’t bother with forums or social media) believes he wasn’t happy with the lack of transfer business being done and especially regarding players he specifically asked for. All that to me suggests they are skint and it’s not quite what they all thought it would be

Best bit about all of this is that it was them beating Stoke last weekend that led to them sacking their manager and taking Neil

It really is a massive blow to them. I was just trying to think of the last good manager they had and Alex Neil is probably the best they've had since Gus Poyet, and he was nothing special. They had Moyes who was terrible and Allardyce who was average, a bit like Poyet. There's not a club out there with a worse record for hiring managers, plus they're always changing managers so they've had so many opportunities to fail.
