Why do they go fucking nuts if someone supports Newcastle who isn’t from Newcastle??

But anyone who supports sunderland who isn't from sunderland is a top dedicated fan!

They went full hard on for Danny Wellbeck when he scored against us in the cup last year. Only because he played for them a few times.

Hope he's not listening to Radio 5 right now, more mention of us than Sunderland in the discussion with Port Vale's Chief Exec [emoji38]

Default “Durham Mag” insult thrown out there. I don’t think the mackems realise (as a Durham Mag myself) it’s a badge of honour not a badge of shame to be different to those towny hicks.

Large parts of Tyneside were traditionally in County Derrum, the fact they think they somehow own the place is hilarious. Northumberland Mackems are sound though….

You'd think Sunderland would be used to League 1 pitches, wasn't that long ago they spent four years there

Consett to Sunderland is nearly twice the distance as  Consett to Newcastle

Even in their moments of lucidity everything they do is in the context of how it relates to us.

I'm not a fan of when some of our fans obsess over us in relation to the mackems, but those people are very much in the minority in our support imo.

It must be an absolute nightmare being amongst all of the 'FTM is our identity' stuff for any Sunderland fan who wants to focus solely on them and not how their achievements stack up relative to ours.

First time I’ve watched the filth all season, our game aside. Has their songbook always been made up entirely of bastardised versions of our songs?

I still love how they go on like everyone in Durham should support Sunderland, but someone in North Shields or the North Tyneside coast shouldn’t support Newcastle.

Getting to the stadium of light from Durham is at least 14 miles away, the same distance as SJP to SOL is.

Getting to SJP from North Shields or North Tyneside coast to SJP is 10 miles away.

First time I've properly noticed that they even tried to rip off our crest.

I wrote a letter to the Pink about it many moons ago. I got the piss taking "Meoww!" retort from whoever was replying to the letters at the time.

And has been stated many times previously, Consett, Stanley, the Derwent Valley, and indeed most of NW Durham, has always been predominantly black and white by quite some margin. The vast majority of people in those places regard Newcastle as their city for entertainment, shopping, social life, transport etc.

Newcastle has always been known as "the town" in those places and even further afield through County Durham.

I said before the game on here that the pitch will be a leveler.  It will help sunderland and their style of play.

Turns out I was wrong.

I was talking to a Sunderland supporter yesterday morning he told me he was 'Going down the town to see Peter Kay'

Second season syndrome for these next year, be in a relegation fight I'm sure.

Teams eventually get found out (us too) and Xhaka's legs will be a year older too.

They have put up with that style of play this season as it has kept them up comfortably but they wont be happy with it next season, being hard to beat and organised wont cut it for them fans if they are midtable again next season but still awful to watch. They are already asking questions about it now and that's after them having the best season they have had for about 20 years. I don't think that manager knows how to play any other way either.

We wont be laughing when are all these global MLF converts via the Netflix show start breaking into football and start scoring against us and doing Charlie Wyke celebrations.

They're genuine fans too, not the pretend Mags that weren't even born or raised on Northumberland Street.

Until the Metropolitan borough (e.g. Tyne & Wear) mid 70s, local council shenanigans, great swathes of Tyneside were classed as County Durham. Why would they be Sunderland supporters rather than Newcastle supporters? In fact, given Newcastle is our region’s capital why shouldn’t everybody in the North East just let lose their inner (wannabe…) ‘Geordie’ and support us? They’d be happier in the long term. (Am I being too RTG?? Answers to some other fucker 😉)
