Yup. However, are they going to be fully committed to the cause knowing an injury could see them lose their place? Are they going to be fully focused on a cold North East derby they've no experience or understanding of? It's still not ideal, the very next day jetting off to NT duty.

I’m fairly sure they’ll be up for it but so will we. I’d say their concern is that they are stuttering a bit over the last 5/6 games albeit with a good draw against Arsenal in there. Even then, they left that late and it was largely against the run of play. I’m not going to say we’re playing them at a good time but I’d much rather do it next week than earlier in the season. Bruno vs Xhaka in the midfield will be a good battle, they’re both playing well atm.

We should go with our most physical possible team for this and spend the first 15 minutes just smashing into them. They have that Enzo lad in midfield who has nice technique but physically is probably one of the smallest and weakest players in the league, plus Xhaka who is hardly known for his physical prowess. Our centre backs should handle that Brobbey or Isidor easily if they play either of them as lone strikers as they've been doing.

Would love Schar to play and step onto their midfield aggressively, but it will probably be Thiaw and Burn.

Unfortunately pressure is all on us here as the established prem side we simply can't win here. Not literally but if we win it will be the money spent and squad assembled if its a draw similar to the loss narrative and if they win we won't ever stop hearing about it.

Match their effort and we'll be ok. It's a huge game but we're much better at handling huge games these days, have a sneaky feeling the occasion could well get the better of some of the Sunderland players and they'll be waaaay too hyped up for it. Just hope the ref is strong and switched on

Honest question as paid no attention to them to know if its all been the signings playing they may not quite grasp the occasion.

I just want a professional display where we don't get complacent I am not expecting to blow them away like in the cup where the quality gap in players was too much.
