Interesting read. Thanks for posting. Sounds like they’re not going to be changing that system anytime soon. Wonder how much work is put in considering whether it is worth adjusting our system to counteract known formations?

Loads. If they were as effective at long ball as that article makes out, you wouldn’t be totally surprised to see Lascelles and Botman starting.

Surely we just back our best XI to beat them regardless, though?

I wonder whether with all their new players if their fans can even begin to guess what their starting XI will be.

I'm glad there's some other football on early to distract me on Saturday as its going to be a long few hours waiting for 3pm. Actually 2pm, as that'll be as interesting as anything else to see what the team is.

Always difficult to predict the opening day, even more so against a newly promoted team. I think it will be a tight game, our lack of attacking threat means we won’t be able to ever pull away from them imo.

I’ll go 1-1

Always feel a bit wary of newly promoted teams who come with a funky shape [emoji38]

Interesting that their focus is to move the ball out wide so much wo wing backs - Maxi may be a problem for us on the defensive side.

Yep. That was the debate I was having with myself. Let them cope with us vs. adjust what we do to counteract their threat. Guess there are opponents that we do either or with, but for most probably a blend of both.

They did well in cup run last season against PL opposition, if I recall correctly. Though whilst system and tactics likely to be the same/similar it is probably a completely different set of players!

Definitely. Shudder at the thought of Howe going all Pards and playing the opposition's game.

Just had a look on one of their message boards for their take on the game and they seem fairly confident.

My take ? I reckon we'll give them an almighty pasting, very little point in them turning up to be honest. Colback to start in midfield also ;)

I just can't imagine losing to a team that has Jack Colback starting in it.

[emoji38] It's like they're starting with 10 men.

Terrible footballer. Phenomenal hide and seek player.

It cannot be Emo-Online like. Think our average place on this forum would be about 13th.

Pretty much all of the other outlets for NUFC fan-based opinions have very bad takes on our current situation. This is the only one, really, that has any sort of common sense on it.
