Guest neesy111
Has to be one of the worst tackles of this century. Surely a red card even by your standards LFEE[/member]
wormy
The 'angry' teammate coming to his 'keeper's defence looks so strange. Such a casual jog, stops dead so weirdly it's almost a little skip, then gives him barely a tap. What's the point.

Alberto2005
Santos actually went to the WBA training ground months before this to try and beat up Johnson

Guest Cheesy Beans
Has to be one of the worst tackles of this century. VAR would have given that as handball.

Wullie
I'm not generally one for "if I'd done that in the street etc etc" but Thatcher was lucky not to face police action for that imo.

Guest
Thatcher should never have played in the league again after that. Hadn’t he done similar to Summerbee at Sunderland a few years earlier as well?

Shearergol
Definitely yellow, he got a significant ban though. I genuinely thought he'd killed him at the time. I remember Glen Johnson screaming for the medics to come on. He still claims that at the time he didn't even know what he did to him, it was only after someone told him after the game how bad it was that he realised he'd done wrong. Who was the commentator who said "now I've seen it again, he was a bit late"?

Dr.Spaceman
Tony Cottee - what a cunt. Rewatch it and call it what it is, not "a bit late". Maybe Gayle. It's some idiot called Tony.
Village Idiot
Both Mali and Spain have called up Adama Traore for the next batch of international games. We'll see who he chooses. He's been called up by Spain in the past, but he's always pulled out due to injury. We certainly could use somebody with his pace and strength on the wing. Raconteur
Are we counting Ben Thatcher on Pedro Mendes as a tackle? Gotta say I thought the Santos one was a worse tackle - watched the vid Wullie posted, and yeah, Thatcher kicks the shit out of his knees as he wildly swings his left leg at him. It is indeed an assault. But Santos, with malicious forethought, set out to butcher Johnson. He got off the ground, both feet studs up and connected full whack with Johnson’s trailing foot (and bonus style points have to go for Johnson’s fall). As a footballing tackle, I feel it’s worse...?
