Alexander Isak: has a chance to play against Everton (Howe)

I'm sure we'd have seen more discussion of it had it been an equalizer for them. As it was, we barely got a replay. I would imagine the flag went up seemingly mistakenly for Isak, not for Bruno who the lino can't have known was in the keeper's eyeline. Unless Isak was clearly offside, it should have automatlcally launched a proper VAR review.

They said on commentary we'd hear from official the decision, and as they was communicating that the game was back underway and they continued talking like they didn't realise the game had restarted.

Was worded by Mike Dean that it would be offside because Kelleher had to dive to side of Bruno, and not able to go forward, but what keeper dives forward in that situation?

Feel very reassured about his future here given how happy and proud he looked during the celebrations.

As much as he might be happy here, you couldn't blame him for having nagging doubts about us being a club that just will never win anything. That was put to bed yesterday. It proves there are no limits.

This 100%, but I think what will make him stay first and foremost is the spirit of camaraderie we have in the squad. He looks genuinely chuffed to be an integral part of this group (as he should). Him, Bruno, Tonali, Gordon, Hall, Tino, Sven is a very solid base to develop from and I imagine it’s just simply a joy to get in to work with this group and under this manager and owners. We are truly united at the moment, and unless he is entirely money driven I doubt he’ll easily find a better place to ply his trade.

The more I see of his disallowed goal the more I think it should have stood. The side-on angle is deceptive and implies Bruno is stood in front of the keeper, restricting his view. In fact the keeper had a clear view and fumbles it. He was very poor today, I know some were looking at him as potential NUFC target. No thanks.

I think it should have stood, but I'm also glad it didn't because then we might not have scored his second which was a lovely finish which no one could argue with. It all worked out great in the end.

Totally. On a similar note, given that camaraderie, they must have similar thoughts to us fans re: will they get forcibly broken up if we don't get success soon. Well, we're well and truly on the road to getting it now.

He's said before that he doesn't underestimate the significance that his best form has come while he's here - he's seen several other clubs and countries already, so he knows the grass isn't necessarily greener.

We seem to have this ability to score straight after something that could be a setback. Guess it's because they really believe in the approach, that they will get the results and just follow the process.

The speed of the decision was at odds with the complexity of the situation. The international feed thought that the offside was a wrong call and that the goal would be given. When it wasn't, their reaction was "oh it must have been Guimaraes", something which hadn't occurred to them from watching the action. The VAR decision looked like it was nullifying an incorrect flag for offside on Isak, but finding a different offside on Bruno which may or may have been correct. He was a yard in front of the keeper, so not impeding him, and not actually in his sight when the shot was taken.

You can find the whole match with international coverage (US CBS) online. It sounds like the commentator was Jon Champion. When Isak does score, Champion or whoever it is reminds us that Isak also scored against Arsenal and Chelsea in this tournament. Bravo!

Yeah to react and hit that first time with that precision from a downward header (great by Murphy btw)…looks easy but it’s not, not too many players do that naturally, and in a big game as well. A goalscorer’s goal.

23 goals in all comps now?  2 more to equal last season's tally.

His performances and consistency have been better than last season, mind.  30 goals please.

Genuine question. Out of the places he would want to go, which clubs can afford to drop $150m or more on him?

Chelsea obviously would in an instant but would anyone entertain that? Barca can't. Real are stacked. PSG maybe? For the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal it's even a stretch.

Not spending time thinking about this, but you're right there is probably not an obvious destination. Makes no sense to me that he would go to a PL club anyway, or that we would allow that.

As I've been saying PSG are the only one who I can see going for him. Given the price and the wages needed to get him. That being said he's going nowhere.

Class.

Said it on here yesterday but why would he want to leave? We are competing for and have now won silverware. We have a big summer ahead where we’ll bring quality in. The project is moving forward.

Most hilarious thing is that even the clubs probably think they can snatch him for something as little as 100-120m or so  Good luck….

I really want to see Osula Isak AG/HB/JM up top at least once this season, mainly for the pure chaos full gas dribbling and smashing it in the net carnage that would ensue.
