We have to mostly target players in the right age bracket, who can both contribute straight away but that can also be elevated - and accept every now again some will be sold and we go again. It's what has got us this success so far and it's what could sustain the club going forward.

If he scores 15-20 goals a season for the next couple of years and it fires us into Europe again, and we cash in for £25m-£30m, isn’t that a risk worth taking, PSR or no PSR.

 

Also, who knows what the landscape looks like in terms of PSR in 2-3 years time. Who’s to say the rules aren’t relaxed slightly and/or we have a bigger commercial income so it matters less?

Players commonly have a Loyalty bonus paid out across the life of their contract in instalments. 

 

If a player is sold they will get the remainder of the bonus as a lump sum on the way out.  However if the player requests a transfer and leaves that is voided and they don't get anything extra.
