Probably the max we could pay but not too outlandish that we couldn't afford to budge the likes of Tonali close to that when it comes to new contract negotiations. Anything over that and the gap between Isak and rest becomes too mega, plus PSR. How are the other players going to feel/act if he comes back and gets a bumper new contract!? Id be fucking raging if I was them Thankfully it wont be the outcome

Tonali would be the obvious one, maybe Livramento with City sniffing around, but I think he's getting one anyway from what's been reported. To ask for world class wages you do have to be a world class player in the first place.

That said, if the club know better and think it can be sorted with a new deal, fair enough.
Optimistic Nut
It's not really a reward though is it? I bet there's worse strikers than him out and about on similar or higher wages. All it's doing is paying what his talent is worth. Or as close to what we're allowed to pay him anyway.

Everyone at the club needs clarity on what’s going on here. We keep being briefed internally via Edwards that he’s staying. Then briefed externally by the vultures on social media that he’s going. I wonder what the squad are thinking about how we’re going to set up this season. It has massive implications for multiple players whether he stays or not, given that incomings are looking unlikely / maximum one in I’d say The squad will know a fuckload more about what's going on than punters like us do Just because all we're hearing out on the streets is radio silence, doesn't mean it's silence behind the scenes

It may be the only way to get him off the sulk should no move happen. Also agree he's under paid based on skill and in line with other top players. Still see both arguments our good players are here on less or around his current wage and dont publicly put the club into chaos. Would rather give him same wage with a large goal or assist making bonus to try and motivate him till January when he may just down tools again. Paully
How on earth are people wanting to ‘reward’ the rat with an increased salary?! WTF! I hope he never plays for us again!
Shak
Yeah I don’t think I really agree with the whole idea that we can’t give him a new deal and pay rise as it rewards his behaviour. The shite behaviour has never been about getting a pay rise, by all accounts we’ve been very keen to give him a new deal. He wants a move, so giving him a new deal isn’t caving to him or rewarding his behaviour, it’s us getting what we wanted. And the players aren’t thick, they’ll know if he’s the kind of player we’re immediately turning down £110m offers for then he should probably earn a decent bit more than most of them. Kid Icarus
Honestly, I hope the crowd and anyone outside give him both barrels and he gets it. He's the instigator and he can reap what he sews by staying at a club where he has to make amends. None of this soft cock no passion, not rising to it bollocks, we're football supporters, it's supposed to mean something. Yorkie
It'll be a really complicated one if he does stay and re-enters the team. He deserves hostility from the crowd because he's disrespected everyone associated with the club, but I don't really see how that would help us. The best outcome has always been that we pretend like the whole thing never happened and the world class striker we have continues scoring shit-loads of goals. TRon
He's not going to be playing until the window closes anyway. By then if we've not got a striker in, we are going to struggle to win games IMO, especially against top half teams. If the fans are still happy to cheer on a struggling team rather than bring Isak back into the team then fair enough. In my view, results tend to overshadow moral high grounds when the rubber meets the road.

Smal
Jack Harrison got booed onto the pitch last night by his own fans. It happens.
Civetty
A new contract with lower wage but with high bonuses for good performances would be interesting, probably would sit better with our other players as well, knowing he'll have to perform to earn his money. Only problem with that is the drama that'll follow if Isak doesn't get to play..

Sibierski
Think if he’s reintroduced, the PR around it needs to be spot on and seeds sown early doors. I won’t ever be vocal towards a Newcastle player playing in black and white if they give their effort / produce on the pitch. Others will have a different view, but if the PR piece is all driven towards bad advice, knows he’s let everyone down, will work hard to repair the trust and confidence to players, fans and Eddie, with an interview from him restating his commitment to deliver long term success, that will at worse make the reception he gets be muted, which is vastly better than boos (and other unsavoury stuff which may come when a few idiots are geared up). Even if it’s with him deep down leaving next season, a fan base that’s not publicly showing disdain to a player and that player scoring 15+ goals, will help us achieve our goals this season. gbandit
I don’t want to see us chanting about Isak on Monday, not because I think it’ll affect things in any way. I just think all our focus needs to be on our team that wants to play for us and when we’re out of possession we focus on Liverpool. Happy to join in chants about isak after the match
