Newcastle United 1-0 Fulham (15/01/2023)

Watched that on mute as I'm busy but that was great. No idea what was going on or why Fulham were awarded a penalty for their player stepping on Trippier's foot - but justice was served in an initialy confusing way.

Nice to see Wilson and Isak linking up. Almost a frustrating result but a good performance.

Wouldn't mind seeing more of 4-4-2 with Wilson and Isak like

Any injury to Bruno is obviously a negative, but could be a bit of a blessing by allowing us to refresh things. Teams are starting to come to SJP with a gameplan.

20 shots to their 5, 5 on target to their 0. Richly deserved win

We need to get our shooting boots back on though. Sure we will.

Right, so obviously Bruno being out is the big negative there but a couple of positives:

  • Another clean sheet
  • Isak looks sharp and up to speed post-injury
  • Us having another option from our usual formation is massive - really like that 4-4-2 with Wilson & Isak up top, Maxi on the left. Bruno and Big Joe in the middle there could be a winner too.

And 3 points too, almost forgot

Depends on who’s behind it. Some players you’d back to score more often than not. It was a decent chance as evidenced by hitting the post and us also nearly scoring from the rebound. You’re going on like we’re not creating any chances

I was just talking about clear cut chances. I think we create plenty of openings where we'll often take the wrong pass or the wrong player is in the wrong place.

Anyway, get the fuck in!

Wow. Thought I'd seen that infuriating 0-0 script so many times. Great win!

Worried about Bruno. Need to rework set pieces desperately too

Our set pieces are dreadful considering the height at our disposal
