I didn’t say I’d do it. I’m conscious of fact unless we can really give him a huge wage this’ll be his last season with us

I'm only joking bud. Bored and following the game on here will do funny things to a man. 😆

Would anyone take selling Isak to Liverpool and signing Ekitike and Muani?

Any scenario involving selling Isak is a no from me. Seriously, we know that if Isak plays 30 games next season, he'll score at least 20 goals.

Totally agree.

Imagine how hard it’s going to be to do deals when clubs know we have 200m in the bank from Isak being sold to Al Hilal.

Saudi tax + PL tax + Isak tax = one unhappy Andy Howe

The lesson we have to learn is that if we want to shop at the top table, we have to be wiling to pay what the selling club wants. Haggle and another club will be in there getting the deal done.

The problem we have is PIF who seem determined to get the best possible deal - if you watch the Amazon doc with the Gordon transfer we nearly lost the deal over £5mil.

We really do need to make some moves in the market - start showing Isak the ambition to compete.

Let’s not kid ourselves this is what will make a difference to Isak. The difference is are we going to pay him £350kpw+ or not.

That will be part of it of course - but he'll also want to see we are strengthening the side to compete.  It'd certainly help our cause.

Were limited because of the regulations unlike the another club

Its not just this though or it would be easier. Its the wages. We can't  compete with one hand tied behind our back or risking upsetting everyone else at the club in lower wages that will demand an increase.

Fair comments, I don’t doubt the industry but we clearly have a very rigid set up, a very small scouting team and a very small negotiating team. Therefore I totally understand why Howe is not confident. Let’s hope the one thing we can control - our rigidity - changes before the end of the window

I'm self imploding, I need to avoid football forums until the window closes. It's bringing out the worst in me. It's so frustrating. All this Isak stuff has burned my toast and melted my brain.

I'll come back to see how its all panned out when I get out of the mental health ward.

We just spent £55 million on Elanga and we still need a GK, RCB, and CM. It makes sense we have to be careful with the prices moving forward.

Sold Longstaff. A lot of Elangas fee covered.

Can't help but think those comments are the first of a very gentle "don't be surprised if we get fuck all else in" warning from Eddie.

Honestly think that unless they get their shit in a pile immediately and sign some quality then Isak will just be the first and more will inevitably follow. The 'short career' comment Howe made today applies to all of them and if they see Isak leave then that's the green light for Tonali, Botman, Bruno et al. It's a major situation and needs to be handled correctly.

Got virtually zero faith in the set of people off the park to sort this out. I'm massively hopeful they prove me wrong
