NUFC Transfer Rumours

Agreed, but everything you've said there confirms exactly what I said - something has either been neglected or poorly handled - naivity, overestimation of how attractive we are, not anticipating other clubs coming in for our targets, not spreading our net wider.

I reckon we seem to get most of our recruitment process right, apart from the all important offer and acceptance stage.

But also, that's hardest to control, because clubs that we thought might sell will ask for daft money, or change their minds. Or players that said they were up for NUFC, will change their minds when a cartel club joins the chase.

Identifying great players, understanding their fit with the club ethos, sussing out their financial demands, getting a feel for whether their club might sell. That's the easier bits and we seem pretty good at that. It's being able to combat interest from other clubs, or dealing with unwilling sellers that we're really struggling with.

Throwing money around would solve the problem more often than not, but as long as PSR exists we're prevented from doing that.

So learning from our naivety, casting the net wider / going for the next tier of player down, might well be the solution.

No excuse whatsoever to not bring in someone of use as a striker,

Vardy would be better than nowt breel embolo is on a free aswell.

Need to start using the short term plan until someone the club likes becomes available.

Both finished then. Magic

Vardy still looks sharp and nippy mind, Wilson didn't. I still think you could get a solid year out of Vardy especially playing in a team that can get him the ball more often.

I'd say the opposite. We've done extensive groundwork on a small number of very relevant targets. But we've been after the same players that the bigger boys want.

We seem to have been blindsided by other clubs stepping in, rather than not doing our homework. We've either been very naïve and overestimated how attractive we really are, or strung along by agents and clubs.

I think the big lesson to learn is that we don't have the stature or financial freedom to go after the brightest young starlets. We need to be going after the next pool down and trusting Eddie to turn those players into worldies.

We said this last summer after the Guehi debacle though. A year later we ended up signing the same player who was considered a realistic alternative to Guehi back then. So I'm not sure the lessons are sinking in.

If our strikers are vardy and an on strike Isak we can say goodbye to any hope of top 5. We aren’t that desperate yet

I think we might be tbh. There’s no one available other than Jackson, who we don’t seem interested in.

I wouldn't want Vardy as back up to Isak but he would do as a third choice option so Osula could go out on loan for a season.

When you are the only available striker at a team playing against 10 men, and you still only get a token run out at the end suggests you are not going to get much game time this season, so get him out on loan.

He is a finisher though it might be enough to get us to January when a player we like may become available.

I don't think anyone is saying he would be our main striker but would you have Vardy as your third striker?

I think he would still be more mobile than Wilson was last year

You all must be joking with these suggestions about Vardy, right?

We’re pretty fucked on the striker front. I’d really rather not sign Vardy, but who else do you sign?
