He is a finisher though it might be enough to get us to January when a player we like may become available.

Going from one of the best strikers in the world to a 38 year old Jamie Vardy and you think it might be enough to get thru a league and CL campaign.

I don’t think anyone thinks it would be enough. We’re just scrambling around trying to work out who is still an option. We need someone but there’s no one out there.

The post I quoted and replied to literally said the words “might be enough”

there is plenty of options yet before we get to Vardy.

No one better than Vardy out there? I know there is not much time left, but that would be criminal.

There’s Jackson. Everyone else that has been linked has been taken or is unavailable.

We’re not signing Vardy though even if people think he could do a job, so no one needs to stress.

We said this last summer after the Guehi debacle though. A year later we ended up signing the same player who was considered a realistic alternative to Guehi back then. So I'm not sure the lessons are sinking in.

Well aye, you’ve got to learn from your mistakes because doing the same thing again whilst hoping for a different result is the very definition of madness

Don’t keep sucking down 1.5 litre creamer tac buckets if it makes you whitey every time, was a lesson learnt by someone I know who isn’t me

We dont know that. No serious CL club would go into a new season with Vardy as their striker , so yeah no need to stress.

I’d sooner sign Vardy on a free in the Wilson role and to keep us ticking over than spend over half an Isak on that Chelsea castoff donkey. Even moreso if we somehow see Jackson as the long term Isak replacement.

In all seriousness Vardy was apparently still hitting 34-35 km/h last season. Obviously it's a different task to do that frequently over 90 minutes, but he's not your average 38 year old.

Edit: This cannot be right like [emoji38]

Jonathan Rowe if he could be signed for a reduced fee around £15m?

Still a raw player, but has played up front at times and still at an age that can be moulded by Howe. Worse case, it’s a quick flip next summer.

He the lad from Marseille ? Just been banned by the club for slapping Rabiot [emoji38]

We’d still have one of the best strikers in the world to get us through the league and CL campaign.

Vardy would be Wilson’s replacement and from what I saw of him in the couple of games I saw him play he was a handful for Crystal Palace and made a mug of Guehi at times and beat him for pace to score and when I went down to Leicester he caused us problems and could’ve pinched two goals and give even Burn trouble in the air.

Give him a one year deal and I’m sure he’d do well for us coming on for Isak even if it got us to January and revisit the market.

We ain’t going to overpay wildly in a panic. Marginally maybe but not wildly so I think our options will be limited now the season is underway way.

Yes, I’ve become insufferable about ‘optics’ lately; but tell me, what’s the PR strategy behind chasing elite players all summer, getting politely ignored, and then handing a contract to someone pushing 40? Satire’s doing itself at this point. Come on, we can’t do that to ourselves

It would be that we were chasing them as Isak’s replacement, who remained with the club and is better than all of those strikers we were linked with.

I'm not sure who's wasted more time 'monitoring' this summer. Me with this thread, or the club with other players.

At least you don't have to read your own posts.
