That’s what we tried this summer which ended up frustrating so many on here.

We went big Too early on our journey and we got burned. I'm not blaming them for trying but after about the seventh knock back we should've learned and went back to a contingency plan a lot sooner.

Goes to show how poor sellers we are in comparison. CL scoring and experienced PL midfielder in his peak years going for only 12-15m in Longstaff. Compare that to the nobody’s the Cartel sell for that amount every year.

Isak was sold undervalue, ditto Almiron, and even ASM. Kelly is the only good deal we did and tbh a Chelsea would have probably sold him for 30m as he is comparable with Tosin who they value around that amount.

Palace offered £8m for David Brooks at Bournemouth the other day. So not sure where you get the idea Longstaff went on the cheap.

it also makes the money we got for Almiron look decent.

Although he’s done very well, who was arguing at the time that we didn’t get good money for Anderson?

At the time, I don’t remember many complaints about £23m for ASM either, and he recently went to Mexico for around one-third of that.

I loved Maxi but he was pretty shite like, just a bright spark in a very grim cycle

wow.

he carried us at times through the brewce era.

yeah he was frustrating but there were plenty of important goals and assists from him.

is that lass ever negative about anything? Just curious.

She's doing videos to newcastle fans, gotta hype shit up for Youtube (she does know her stuff tbf).

For example Adam Cleary did a video on how amazing Longstaff is (shortly before he basically got dropped for the rest of the season), part of his evidence being that Longstaff moved before a throw in was taken ffs.

In fairness to Alice, in the linked video, she says she thinks Sesko was an overpay and Ekitike a massive overpay. Anything negative about Respect FC will trigger lots of eScousers.

This window was an ongoing car crash as high-wage clubs snatched away all our targets and the Isak sage rumbled towards its nightmarish conclusion. However, the players we did get addressed needs in the squad and we got there in the end. My main complaint was Wissa and Big Nick coming in late and us playing three games without an established striker. I think this cost us at least 5 points.

She’s clearly just pandering to us and other major fanbases, but at least she knows what she’s talking about for the most part. I’ll take that over clueless rage-bait any day.

Aye it's not the worst idea, and she's probably got as much tactical insight as most Youtube amateur coaches. I've seen her videos pop up before on my feed but never watched one. I don't think I'll watch any more either, but it was decent enough.

Always dubious when this sort of stuff is stated after the fact.

How many stories is that where Romano constantly wants to push the narrative we offered more money for players and clubs turned it down for the honour of selling to a "bigger club". Taking any stories like that with a pinch of salt.

Does she used that shocked face on every thumbnail? Feels like it's always the same one when she gets posted on here.

Players are going to prefer clubs with a higher profile like, it's not that surprising. Players from England would prefer to sign for Juventus to Cremonese.

It's not really a slight on us, just highlights how badly we've been run for a long time.

The good news is we’re shopping in the same supermarket as Liverpool and City. The other good news is we are looking at players within the correct age bracket. The bad news is we can’t compete on wages so we need some luck as well. The transfer strategy has not changed, even with all the setbacks. It augurs well.

I would rather keep trying like this instead of accepting 28 or 29 year olds that the rich clubs want to move on from. That’s a dead end strategy.

It worked for Man City and Chelsea because they had no PSR back then. No harm in buying a 30 year old striker at his peak if it won you the title withing 3 years. We are going to have to do it with more sustainable growth given we can't just chuck PIF money at the squad.
