We dont need squad fillers...we need squad enhancers!

It’s all about the mix. Team’s can be enhanced by adding adding a player who, for example, doesn’t appear to bring goals but their presence increases the likelihood of scoring more.

If McTominay is looking for a new club, we probably won't be on his shortlist. I think the recruitment team is looking for the best available realistic options, and signing Garner in the summer or for about 10m in January makes sense. Most Everton fans rate him highly, and his versatility, being able to cover the fullback positions, is a big plus (no more Burn at LB).

Sorry i meant when he was available he was the right kind of profile, ones we know have competed at the level and looked adequate if they are to bolster the squad to a higher level. We have enough players who arent comfy at left back, lets not shoehorn a midfielder back there. If the player isnt good enough to match or replace who we have then they shouldnt be considered, even for free in my opinion. Our refusal on loans makes this much harder but something i think RW will try and do given his network

Have we identified midfield as a sore spot?

Links to midfielders when we've got a youngster in Miley and bedding in Ramsay.

Don't get me wrong, we should be buying prospects but Garner and this lad will be a decent wedge when we current have wacky wavy inflatable arm guy playing fullback out of position. How about some fullback prospects?

Probably more to do with succession from Tonali tbh

Our midfield looks a wreck. Willock is likely on the way out, Willock 2 might have been a mistake, Joelinton looks past it. Miley should certainly be starting more though IMO. It needs a rebuild.

Massively overrated we lack control, protection of back 4, creativity and the basic ability to pass the ball at times this season.

Looks better value for money than Anderson or Wharton surely.

Looks too good to have no super club interest. If none of them step in we might have a chance.

There's nothing wrong with our midfielders. The problem is our current system. We need to change the system. The other teams are playing differently this year to an extent.
