NUFC Transfer Rumours

There's nothing wrong with our midfielders. The problem is our current system. We need to change the system. The other teams are playing differently this year to an extent.

Nothing wrong expect they can’t score goals, create chances or play in cohesive way that maintains possession.

It’s a bit of both. Our system doesn’t exactly encourage creativity through the middle or ball retention, we always want to play it out side. On the other hand Joelinton is looking like he’s on the downside physically, Willock has been poor for a couple of years, and the Ramsay signing doesn’t make much sense.

We definitely need at least one midfielder IMO, and they need to have the potential to be Tonali level.

For quite some time the 3 of them as a unit haven’t given the team nearly enough going forward or dominating games. Tonali gets immunity because it’s not really his job. Bruno has had as many bad games as good, as much as I love him. Joelinton on the other hand has been getting away with murder for ages.

I think we must be looking at a few players at Club Brugge.

They have a young LB who can also play at RB too called Seys. He had his first cap a few days ago fir Belgium.

There is also Stankovic who scored recently for Serbia. A young DM who is attracting attention.

Joel has been linked a few times, he is a LCB so actually not sure if there is much truth in rumours as we have 2 high quality players in that position unless they are planning on reducing Burns play time anytime soon.

@Myleftboot

We had money for a Wilson replacement and never expected to lose Isak so his fee covered two strikers without touching the Wilson replacement money as far as I can see. Maybe it’s not as simple so someone more aware of our finances can comment.

Feel like I read this exact article from Mark about every three months.

Nice.

Ross Wilson did a good number of deals with Brazilian clubs while at Forest.

Be interesting to see how this plays out.

Newcastle will continue to cry off due to PSR fears is how I see it playing out.

It was basically deals with Textor owned club last summer which was iffy with all what was going on between Palace / Forest.

Brazilian market is heavily overhyped. For every Murillo, there’s 5 others that come and go for a cost that people don’t even remember.

It will be interesting either way our signings moving forward, if Wilson is still here next summer. He was giving a remit last summer by Edu that saw players come in that Nuno didn’t want. Signings I like, but haven’t returned the goods short term for the £125m spent (Hutchinson / McAtee / Ndoye / Kalimuendo), but firmly believe they will get value and more out of seasons moving forward. Sort of what we need to do, and back Howe being the top coach he is to get the best out of them earlier.

That Franca kid we were linked with a few years ago and ended up at Palace a good example. Barely played and now back in Brazil.

For me, it’s still about predominantly getting the best under-25 Premier League talent we can, with a few quality signings from abroad.

There’s a funny habit here of rating players from lower leagues more highly simply because we don’t watch them week in week out. The mystery gets people far more excited than the reality usually does imo.

We can't afford the best u25 players from the premier league sadly. What's the going rate for a Wharton for example?

To be fair, my point was that we should keep targeting the best young Premier League players we can realistically afford or attract. Someone like Wharton doesn’t seem especially realistic financially, but there are others who would be.

Please name some, id like to know who your referring to.

Imo we should be aiming for the best players we can regardless of where they currently play. Obviously they should be 24 or younger too.

That being said, I'm not quite sure what our goals or ambitions are so it's all a bit moot.

That's not exclusive to N-O tbf. It's just naturally more exciting to see us sign Francisco Randominho JR than it is signing James Garner.
