No Burnley's agreement with City related to accepting a matching bid. Burnley and city's agreement can't bind Trafford as the clause is between the two clubs.

That is what I assumed. Only thing that makes sense.

Isn't it just as simple as Burnley have to accept an equal offer from City, therefore agreeing to both bids and then its up to Trafford what contract and team he chooses to go to as any other player would with multiple offers on the table, ergo Trafford chose City over us as you would expect most players to do?

if we make just the one signing in this window I'd love a quality left back. Because one thing is staring me in the face, Lewis Hall ain't staying in that position, he's too fucking good to be wasted there

Yep. Seen it a number of times previously with the likes of Gareth Bale, Kimmich, Alaba etc.

Players who started out as full-backs, but were far too good to stay in that position.

I do wonder which position Hall will eventually end up in.

This is precisely it.

Antonio Mango has shared a lot of stuff for a while about how he knows Sven Botman's agent. He hasn't said explicitly why, but in his recent video about squad overhauling he said that the contract for him still hasn't been signed and that if it was his choice he'd cash in on him.

I think Liverpool signing that young Brugges centre back we were linked with, shows how hard it is to even get the younger players with potential from abroad.

It does show that it’s not just your Brighton’s and Brenford’s taking this approach though. There’s some real young talent abroad and the club needs to show under Wilson that we are going down this route to have any chance.

He's good. Didn't watch him for a long while, but he's definitely got the receipts, as they say, when it comes to identifying players.

I'd expect that on top everything else, City can offer far better wages as well.

I think Traffords decision was perfectly logical and the one most players in his position would choose.

He just got fucked over by one of the best keepers in the world randomly becoming available and City feeling they could pass the chance up.

Was it a matching bid though? Seem to recall it was + £4m over matching bid. Definitely felt strange like a clever PSR move set up in advance. Could be wrong though.

If he is on good wages over there then this is where we find out if he prioritises getting paid for sitting on the bench for a good chunk of his career or taking a pay hit and playing first choice.

Seems like a chap who plays Football Manager. Identifying some 17yo players as replacement for our squad players doesnt seem realistic.

Surely easier to get through this season and sell big Nick for a more mobile and faster and stronger CF.

So people want us to sell Woltemade and Elanga in the summer then?

Sell everyone, have loads of money in the bank, get relegated and then buy everyone to get back into the premier league at the first time of asking.

No one wants them.

Don't you think? Plenty of rumours about Willock being wanted by other clubs, Osula linked with Villa etc? I reckon some poor idiots will take Elanga off our hands (not that we'll sell him, I realise this).

I've been watching him long enough to know he's not. He absolutely knows his stuff imo.

OK, came across some Twitter post where he proposed some 17yo for us, maybe in place of Willock iirc. Didnt seem reasonable
