NUFC Transfer Rumours

To an extent, I agree; however, for the players who clearly took the money on offer over continuing their development and game time, no thanks.

I don’t think that’s always the case, some of the players will have been promised first team, some will have believed they would be the main man. Tosin maybe took the money, at the time the other two were expected starters

If we need a young right back who can play centre back and has a bit of ‘head room’ in terms of quality and value then my extensive ‘Wise’ scouting suggests we go shopping in Portugal. Couple of 6ft young guns who remind me of Tino:

Fresneda is Spanish (Real Madrid youth product) few under 21 caps and thirty odd first team appearances for Sporting.

Fernandes is Portuguese, a couple of years younger (19), but similar in terms of appearances and profile. Plays for Porto/been there since a kid.

Or

We were quite strongly linked with Fresneda before he moved to Portugal

can't say I've ever seen him play, but Hugo Bueno from Wolves is top of most of the crossing stats, despite them being shite.

Would be funny having him on one side and Murphy on the other for the final 20 mins of games. Just pure bombardment into the box.

Would love to know what they're thinking.

Seems to me the options are:

Sign no one, do nothing

Risky in the short-term but safeguards our summer position

Buy no one, do a loan

Relieves pressure in the short-term but probably gets us dubious quality and affects our summer position to some extent

Buy a cheap prospect/gamble

Relieves pressure in the short-term and could work out in the long-term; conversely, potentially leaves us saddled paying for someone we didn't rate that highly, impacts our summer position

(Try to) buy a top target, likely overpaying to get them early

Relieves pressure in the short-term and recruitment is in alignment with the vision; conversely, could be a repeat of the Guehi saga, and impacts our summer position

(All options (apart from the first) have a 'recall Targett' add-on, which feels like a no-brainer at this point.)

Likely thinking Trippier is back, Krafth too soon, with Burn back end of the month, we don’t need anyone.

Injuries or not, we needed to make signings this window because squad still isn’t fully there.

I’d be really dismayed if we ended window having done no business and Willock / Osula are still here. We’re so slow at moving.

Someone like Dara O’Shea from Ipswich wouldn’t cost a bomb and could fill a gap, that’s if Alex Murphy won’t be trusted to start.

Perhaps not a stellar signing but we said similar when we got Burn, players like that tend to overachieve a then become more when given a chance with a club like ours. Ciaran Clark did ok for us back then too, similar sort of profile.

Just saw him ghosting past all comers and banging in a goal in a soccer sixes thing on Sky. Looks a player!

Juventus would sell Gatti (CB)... Physically very strong and with his background as a midfielder he has excellent vision and is very good at reading the defense. He's a great header (a trait that allows him to be dangerous in attack as well) and has good technique with the ball.

I think he could do very well for you and especially at €25 million (the money that Juventus wants) he's a bargain.

He's on a high wage allegedly. We were basically paying top wages for someone who would be a stand-in.

Not to mention we've lost half our defenders in the last few weeks.

Not that Boro would cover much of that in the Championship. Reckon Ritchie, Lacelles etc...were on similar, and kept around for cheerleading duties.

I’d prefer if we went for someone like Ben White. If we’ve got Tino / Thaiw on the younger side, we can have someone like White who’s in his late 20s.

Ticks box of more players that can progress the ball through passing and building up. Ticks box that he’s a RB but also RCB.

White is totally the wrong mentally. Arsenal fan I know reckons he doesn’t care for football at all, it’s just a job to him and he does the bare minimum as a result, always the last in training and first out. Allegedly also why he’s said he’s not interested in an England call up.

Have absolutely zero time for any footballer that doesnt like football. At least Benoit Assou Ekotto was a wildcard. Ben white is just an incredibly boring TOWIE regen

David Batty was the same tbf re: not liking football, last into training, first to leave etc.

I'm not sure Batty liked anything tbh mate, people, football, etc haha

BBC gossip has us linked with Conor Gallagher. Wouldn’t mind that. Robust, gets a goal every now and then.

Dream signing would be Kluivert. Can play in midfield or the wings, shoot from outside the box, would suit our style of play.

Pick on me but no one else saying it's a good signing.
