NUFC Transfer Rumours

Not a big fan of the "value for money" argument that we keep hearing tbh.

Would hold up better if we didn't struggle to find value for money in the summer windows too. I reckon some of our best business has actually been done in January windows.

I'm taking the value for money point as fits our long term plan. Aka no expensive short term fixes which is a gamble but the correct approach imo.

Presuming the extent of business will depend on flogging Osula and/or Willock too.

I doubt any manager wants to sign development players instead of potential immediate starters. You want your signings to have an impact straight away. Issue for us EH is particularly averse to giving younguns minutes unless injuries really force his hand.
Might be that the pressure for points and league position from above makes it a poor risk/reward decision for EH. Or maybe he has other reasons, whatever they are he has so far been very reluctant.
That makes buying prospects in January because we have an injury crises unappetising.

Targett will help, but CB is a massive issue too we're essentially only going to have 3 fit CBs (At best). If we lose 1 to injury (Like we have now with Burn) we've only got 2 fit.

It’s also not a great line when you’ve recently paid large fees for players who haven’t delivered - Elanga, Ramsey.

We've won our first cup in a generation and qualified for the Champions League since she left

Do the club not getting any credit for scouting Thiaw?

That’s down to the coach, not the business we’re doing off the pitch. Theres a difference to being run by amateurs that’s separate to what Howe is doing.

No training stuff, no ground stuff, signings that are not improving us, over spending, sponsorships not flowing at pace needed. It’s clear what is happening on the pitch from Howe over past 24 months is different to what is happening off it.

That seems an incredibly simple thing to say it's all down to Eddie.

What about the structures in place that help the coach such as performance analysts, scouting, fitness/medical teams etc

We're 6th in the league, in another cup semi final, going to go through to another Champions League round and in the FA Cup.

All after a summer where our most valuable asset went on strike. We must be doing something right?

You only have to look at the likes of West Ham, Man Utd, Spurs to look at clubs that are badly run

Ours haven't got every decision right but a bit of perspective and we're doing alright and still learning

Literally a month ago,  loads of people were saying Eddie should be doing so much better.

For a club that is run by amateurs and a manager who should be doing much better,  we're doing alright

There is almost certainty that Botman ain't coming through these next two weeks without a problem. Likewise Hall and possibly Trippier if Miley is needed elsewhere.

We need a CB and LB cover. Even if it was average prem fodder. Just to have players we could bring on after 70 mins etc.

The minute Any of our current defense pick up a injury or dare say a red card or something we are down to Alex Murphy at CB or LB or possibly even Miley having to slot in there.

That won't help us achieve what we want to achieve so they need to do something to provide cover. If it's someone like Targett returning for left back then so be it, he's not ideal but it's safer than throwing a youth team player in.

While I get the clubs reluctance to buy because of an injury crisis its not like if they were all fully fit this work would be redundant otherwise.

We all know major surgery is needed due to the age and contract situation of lascelles, kraft, schar, Trips and targett thats before you have potentially tino going if he won't extend.

I do understand availability and cost of players may well be more in Jan but clubs come the summer will know we need defenders and be hard sellers regardless.

Seems cheap. He'd fit us like a glove top.

If we could get him for that fee I think thats good business especially on an obligation to buy. Not our priority right now obviously, but a good deal. Still only 25 too.

Very good point especially last summer.

he's decent enough, works hard etc but is he what we need? probably not

won't stop people crying about it though

Feels like he does what Sandro does. Good for squad depth but agree we need a specialist. Either an out and out DCM or a Kees Smit who’ll help unlock a low block.
