Raspadori from Atletico Madrid to Atalanta for €22 million...a bargain. At that price, and considering your situation with wingers, he was a must-buy for you.

Our situation is that we have 4 wingers. (at least 3 healthy)

Same time we have 1 senior left back healthy, 2 cbs and 1 rb who is 35.

Feel like we're gonna be walking a dangerous tightrope again here. Losing a player every game at the moment to injury, we've got to get some bodies in. We're gonna struggle to maintain our position in the league regardless of whether we go out of the FA Cup and CL at the next respective stages.

he isn’t a must-buy given other positions are even worse, but I agree Series A still have a lot of gems that worth to gamble

Yes I know... 90% of those writing here are asking for defenders  but that's a problem that can be postponed until next summer.

You need a quality midfielder NOW, and since Howe is a fan of a wingers system you also need a good winger... for €22 millions you won't find a good winger who can also play as a striker or second striker.

Obviously Raspadori isn't Semenyo and never will be, but he's definitely better than all four of your wingers.

Agree we're out the LC BUT...  we get an early goal and then City get a player sent off after 10 mins of the second leg... it's possible.

They will probably just sign a cup tied player in the first half and bring him on for the last 30 mins

How come he's only lasted 15 games at Atleti? I've never seen him play but a quick glance suggests that he would have been a gamble. First time playing out of Italy and he lasts half a season...

I assume you think he's class, given you've touted him?

15 games but 424 minutes (2 goals and 3 assists)... I imagine he never started in the starting eleven, despite that Atletico fans would have liked to keep him.

He's not a champion but those are the kind of players who have quality and can perform very well in the right Club. An example is Pulisic who performed exceptionally well here in Milan for three seasons.

I like Raspa but there is no way he's a better winger than Gordon or Barnes. He's not even a winger and would be entirely unsuited our system both positionally and in terms of physical profile.

He's a good second striker in the right system. Atalanta is a good move for him. He should have gone there when they were interested previously.

Get Targett back to lessen the load on Hall as it’d be criminal if he gets injured being over played. Also sign a CB to add some depth. Both those things would help no end.

Agreed. I also wonder if Targett can play LCB to give the fragile Botman some rest from time to time.

The solution to all our attacking problems remains our RW. It would be admitting we got it badly wrong but we need a new RW who is very comfortable on the ball, can play in tight spaces and dribble. If we had that we’d open up so much more space in the middle and on the left where we have far fewer issues

The contrast between us gambling every window on fitness and City subbing Cherki on for lol's was crazy.

Fucking Cherki, another one we were linked with for ages. The talk was he was probably too flimsy and a dickhead iirc.

Akliouch will be the next Cherki.

Aye and just casually chucking a Ballon D'Or winner on to sure things up, as you do.

As desperate as we are for an effective RW option, I still don't think that fully resolves the issues we have through the middle.

Must be a bit of a headfuck for the other players switching between Wissa and Woltemade too every game, requiring them to adapt to two completely different styles.

Bought by a club that give him wages above our highest earner?

Eventually that will probably happen yeah. This seems like an argument against buying prospects?

Mad how we rivalled all the massive clubs for striker options and no one for our right winger.

It’s all very well buying prospects, in fact, to a point, it’s sensible. But if we (or another PL team) had bought Cherki two or three years ago, before he’s commanded his current wages, he likely wouldn’t have had the immediate impact he’s having now.

And therein lies the rub.

How do we go about managing the line between allocating some of our budget to players that may well improve and increase in value given time, with our need to have a squad that completes at elite level on multiple fronts, now.
