Not a fan of Issak leading the line, much prefer when he has a 'free' role

There's no such role in this team though. He played that role maybe twice for about 45 minutes total last season out of neccesity. He's either playing through the middle upfront or he's on the bench. We can't be judging our season or our tactics for the next 36 games based on this 90 minutes, that would be insane.

Felt like we were happy with the 1-0 for the last 10-15 minutes, would like to have seen us at least try to get the ball into the box but we were just playing side to side.

Result was expected though but I was a bit disappointed at how comfortable we made it for them at times.

Absolute chasm between the sides. Nothing more to be said. Foden, in particular, was insane.

They played starters midweek. We used all subs, correctly got loads of yellow cards, they used no subs. And it was a walk in the park.

They're in a different league. Proud of the second half effort, but yeah. Newcastle firmly put in their place.

That was a perfectly fine performance from us. We had a couple of good chances that we squandered. You don't get more than that. We held them reasonably under control. Nothing much to be concerned about here.

Only time I recall him fully having a ‘free role’ was second half away at Brentford.

No shame in that. We could have done better in some situations that potentially could have resulted in a draw but not really unhappy about this all in all. Not the most exciting game though. Game against Liverpool will be more open imo.
