AyeDubbleYoo
Very hard one for the management this. Because he’s done it in the PL and we signed him for serious money, we must believe he can do it. Therefore we kind of have to keep playing him and hope he sorts it out. Forest built their attack around his pace and he had the luxury of Chris Wood being on ridiculous form which padded his stats, but yeah, he was still good for them and for whatever reason he's been ultra-minging here. It doesn't help that we are pretty terrible whenever we sit in and try to play how Forest played last season, our midfielders can rarely find the right out-ball for players like Elanga and Gordon to actually benefit from their pace, and their own starting position is often way too deep. The only time we look good as a team is when we squeeze up the pitch and play in a style that doesn't suit Elanga at all.
Sibierski
Minging today because he was asked to stay deep. Baffling signing if that’s what you want from him in those types of games. At Forest they were deep, but nothing like today, and then if they were deep, at least it was balls played through the lines to get the wingers attacking. We’re stuck with him for next 5 years, so hopefully get one peak season out of him like we did with Almiron.

He’s relegated to the bench and if that doesn’t work for him then a loan with an obligation.

He’s doing it because there’s an expensive asset in the squad that he wants/needs to improve. I’m not saying it will happen, but it’s not hard to understand why he’s trying. Maybe I worded it wrong but dropping a player will affect their confidence and Howe doesn’t want to do that. He’s giving him opportunities to get up to speed but Elanga’s not taking them except for one assist. There comes a point the team being under pressure due to the ball being lost continually becomes too much. For me we’ve reached that point. I hope he turns it around but when he can barely control the ball or take a pass in his stride isn’t inspiring confidence. A player has to show something to believe in him when he’s not performing. Let’s forget about mazy dribbles, defence splitting passes or crosses delivered to the heads of attackers. If he could do the basics of football well like receive a ball under pressure, protect it and release a pass to a teammate to allow us to recycle possession I’d take that as something to build upon. He’s not even doing that. Edited December 14, 2025 by SAK Deleted some blank space.
Tsunami
Baffling that we’ve scouted the shit out of him, got knocked back and then went back in again. His performances for us remind me of his time at Man U, not great. His ball control is terrible, his passing is terrible, he doesn’t have the skill to go past a player (he usually kicks the ball ahead and hopes it gets beyond the fullback), his composure is terrible. He doesn’t appear to have any kind of football brain. His teammates don’t look like they trust him in possession, they look to me that they’re expecting him to either lose the ball, find an opponent with a pass or just run the ball out. He really wasn’t that great at Forest, he spent a chunk of time on the bench. It is what it is but our scouting has to be seriously questioned on this one. I just can’t see anything about him to suggest he’ll come good. Obviously, I hope I’m made to eat these words.

Newcastle Fan
I compared him Adama Traore earlier this season after the Leeds game and got pelters here. I would like to use this post to apologize to Adama, who managed to get a few caps for spain and at least knows how to take on a player. Danh1
Doesn’t even look like a footballer. What’s he good at? We needed a technical player on the wing. The fact that he is even worse than Almiron says a lot. Premier League proven I suppose.
ExiledGeordie
My concern was he wouldn’t be able to open teams up at home because he doesn’t have that craft wire the ball at his feet against a low block. But I thought away from home he’d give us a real threat on the break with his pace. The really concerning thing now is he doesn’t seem to do anything well and isn’t influencing games positively in any way. For all of Almiron issues/limitations in final third, one thing he was really good at was taking ball under control regardless of pass / position in final third. Meant that even if he didn’t directly create anything, it helped us get up the pitch and stay up there. Elanga right now is hurting all our attacks unless it’s a high presses with turnovers in final third.

midds
His main asset is his pace but he's constantly played into systems that don't allow him to use it. What's the fucking point in having someone like him if he's going to play approximately 6 yards in front of his RB and get maybe 3 chances a game to use his pace to actually hurt the opposition? He looks a pointless signing if this is how we're going to play in the vast majority of games. If hard work was what was required then there was no point in replacing Almiron and I don't think I could possibly think of a bigger criticism/insult than that. Playing with 3 central midfielders it’s tragic that our wingers are being asked to double up to the extent they are.

Should have been a sure fire plug and play and he just has zero confidence. Its like the price tag and pressure to perform has drowned his confidence and in turn ability. Hope he can turn it around.
