It’s a flip of a coin between Watkins and Sesko for me, if they get one and we get the other I think both clubs will be happy either way.

It would be pretty strange of Villa to sell Watkins to either of us tbh. They’ll likely be in direct competition with both of us.

Are Villa trying to cash in on Watkins for PSR reasons? Last year of contract or something? Seems odd but maybe there was a bit of tension when he was playing second fiddle to Duran and Arsenal bid for him

Has to be Sesko we need someone to excite the fanbase. He’s the right age and has the potential to be top drawer.

 

There’s a real shortage of top strikers available and Sesko alongside Wissa is about the best we can hope for…….if we sell Isak which is looking increasingly likely if the house story is true.

If you are struggling with PSR like Villa, getting a huge fee for a soon 30-year-old would be amazing business even if it probably weakens their first 11.

Selling Watkins who's probably past peak value and buying someone like Jackson who's of similar profile but much younger is a very villa thing to do. They aren't afraid of taking risk.

My reading of it is, while Amorin didn't want a promising striker, he wanted the finished article - Sir Jim Ratshit has probably stepped in and told him in no uncertain terms, "if Newcastle want Sesko then we are buying him and you can take it or leave it you underperforming pleb. We aren't spending £60m on a 30 year old"
