Howay, Southampton could have had Lev Yashin and Buffon in goal at the same time last season and they would have still conceded more than anybody else.

Yeah still doesn’t make Ramsdale any good

Quite surprised how bad people think Ramsdale is. Is it just because of the optics about him saying he can't concentrate? Admittedly that's bad.

I know we've always overrated Dubravka but he could never play for Arsenal or England.

When there was all that hype around him in 22-23 I felt like I was being gaslit tbh, I didn't get it. Not only did I think he was overrated, I thought he was a liability.

Then Arsenal replaced him, the pundits couldn't understand it, then it was that they had two number 1s, then it was like everyone just quietly accepted that he wasn't very good/stopped talking about him.

Meh, unexciting but fine, loan with option to buy is relatively low risk and an area we do actually need cover despite having 45 goalkeepers. Hopefully a better option comes along in the next couple of windows though.

The Arsenal couldn't replace him quick enough narrative just isn't true. In fact there was a fair bit of criticism about the move when it happened as he had done well for them in his two years there.

Arteta had always wanted Raya even prior to signing Ramsdale though and so made a move to get him when it was possible to.

He’s better than Dubravka. If it’s a stop gap loan, it’s fine.

During the whole summer and particularly the two friendlies almost everyone to a man here reckoned we need to upgrade on pipe but now it’s an upgrade on Dubravka  it’s a terrible signing because we dropped the ball on Trafford and got desperate

Arsenal couldn’t replace him quick enough. Conceded most goals in league last season. He’s not an upgrade on Pope in any shape or form

I don't think "Conceded most in the league" is a particularly fair when he was playing for a Southampton side that were rivaling Derby's record like. Like he saved the second most shots in the Premier League last season, but that stat is a bit worthless in itself as he played for Southampton.

And what are people’s opinions now? Looks like a Pope and Dubravka or Dubravka and Darlow scenario to me from what I’ve seen from Arsenal fans.

Arteta replaced him as soon as he could that’s a fact
