Seen a few say his passing/kicking/distribution isn't that good

But I've seen a few videos on twitter that suggest otherwise? His passing into midfield looked great

Though maybe it was a while ago and he'd regressed

He's bit like Pickford. His long passing is good. Short passing and ability on the ball not as good (Raya was an upgrade on that) but still a lot better than Pope on that front.

How much is that loan fee? Aren’t they lost to PSR so generally not advisable?

I guess, with the higher loan fee, it’s taken into account for the ‘option to buy’ price at the end of the loan. So, if we’re dropping £4m now, we might be getting a couple of that off the final fee if we activate it?

Pickfords distribution is superb imho.

Long game and out of his hands it is probably the best in the league. Ball playing ability in possession and short passing game, which often seen as desirable for the biggest clubs to build from the back, not as good. He'd have had a move from Everton if it was.

Cheers, makes sense

Love it when a keeper can slice open a team by passing into the midfield/forward line without lofting it

I guess we don't need Ederson/Raya level comfortable with the ball, just someone who can act as a +1 at times

Only if you don’t end up keeping the player.

Assuming it gets knocked off whatever the buy price is, it’s kinda just like the first year’s amortisation if you do buy them.

Can I just shock you? Etc.

There's a compilation for everything and everyone these days. As if someone's went digging into Ramsdales passing for an 8 minute YT clip.

Time to start talking myself into it.

Apparently he had 0 errors leading to goals last season, which is pretty good while playing for that Southampton side.

You should.

The fact we’ve decided to loan him in the first instance tells you everything you need to know.  We’ve filled a position needed contrary to the reports we were happy with the GK situation. Done and dusted and hopefully focus on the bigger job in the squad

What I know is that he’s a very good egg and from a good family, going off the Arsenal documentary.

Welcome to Newcastle Aaron.

Must say I really rated him at the time of that documentary. I thought he was a top keeper back then.

Aye, he’s outstanding at it. The game against us at SJP last season was a perfect case study in it

I think everyone got caught up on keepers having to be able to rabona round an attacker, playing a 1-2 into midfield, and then threading a through ball out to the winger - forgetting a fast, flat and true 80 yard drive behind the fullback is just a lot better.
