What we reckon the option fee is? Given weve shelled out 4m on the loan, im thinking 14 to make it permanent?

Thry paid £25m for him. Expect theyd want to break even.

Can I just shock you? Etc.

After 30 seconds, I knew he was better than Pope with his feet. Pope couldn't do that stuff in a million years.

There's stuff Pope is very good at too though, which Ramsdale will have to step up to.

The group therapy of this thread as we all gradually talk ourselves round is lovely.

Genuinely does feel therapeutic making a signing and everyone letting a little of relief / positivity cut into what’s been a harrowing two months

So minus the 5m PSR which they had paid off, I reckon we will get him for around 20. Just my guess.

I think everyone got caught up on keepers having to be able to rabona round an attacker, playing a 1-2 into midfield, and then threading a through ball out to the winger - forgetting a fast, flat and true 80 yard drive behind the fullback is just a lot better.

Elanga and Gordon will love that.

this means significant savings compared to Trafford deal (this isnt long term tho) so ow I expect serious go at defennders market, another CM and the striker position needs to be sorted.

if Ramsdale have a fantastic season I am ok to buy him if the fee is like 15m or so, but if he is shit and cannot put Pope to bench or he has blunders in him then let him go back to Soton next summer.

Classic Eddie with the Trafford smokescreen. Got us all again, Rambo was always 1st choice

Trafford is great with the ball at his feet, but my theory is he has the agility of a rhino. Low tricklers into the corners will be his embarrassing weakness.

Pope is still number one and starting the first game.

I think we could have signed anyone and that would have been the case.

At best Rambo will get a full 90 before the season starts and that wouldnt be enough for Howe to play him day 1 anyway.

Is £4m a “heavy” loan fee these days?

Sure Chelsea paid about £10m for Felix when they first got him for half a season.

Depends if it comes off the final fee I suppose.

We won't have been his only possible move btw, and we've done well getting a loan rather than a sale out of it. We've also seemingly got things moving pretty quickly after identifying him as first choice post-Trafford. Decent turn from the shambolic clowns.

On reflection, seems a strong personality and has a lot of experience at the top level. He might thrive at a club like NUFC. I’ll feel better about this move if we successfully move on Dubravka and Vlach.

I do think it’s disappointing we’ve seemingly haggled all summer for the fee of our top target and we’re now paying a substantial loan fee for our backup target.
