I think there are times when clubs take a gamble on having enough players, because getting the right fee at the right time is important.

OK we need 6 midfielders but if someone hoys a decent chunk at you for Willock, you have to think about taking it, given his injury record.

In fairness, his injury record is why we wont get decent bids for him.

We very much gambled last season at CB but thankfully it ended well.

Would've failed if we had European football.

But aye the availability alone of Fab & Schar last year was critical. Murphy too.

We had such a thin squad by the end.

We were fortunate that our biggest injuries were in the areas of our greatest strength.

He's good at finding space in what you would consider "problematic" areas for the opposition. I guess we would need another set of stats to determine what he did with said space  But overall it's a positive thing to be good at.

With the deeper lying players we have to fire those passes in, should be very good.

honestly his turn of pace with the ball at his feet, weaving through defenders is absolutely epic - and it seems like he's able to do that when the defensive line is stood off too, which i think bodes really well for us.

The amount of times I’ve seen him do that to us! Happy to have him onboard helping to terrorise other teams

Was funny, he fucking murdered us both times - he's the type of player who always gives us problems with his ability to find pockets of space + drive with the ball. I think of how Kluivert killed us at SJP as well.

But we would have had more funds to invest... Well depends which cup.

We have enough midfielders now IMO. Willock is rarely fit but as sixth choice rarely is exactly as often as we'll need him. (and you would hope that the reduced playing time results in less injuries as well). There's also a bunch of folks who can play at CM as emergency cover if needed.

I wouldn't want to stifle MIley's development by bringing in too much competition. He should hopefully be playing this season about as much as Longstaff played last season. If that's not going to be possible he should go out on loan.
